Anyone on just Taxotere and Cytoxan?

Hello ladies
I made it through. I finished my last tx on yesterday and I'm glad. I got a certificate from the chemo nurses and they made an announcement in front of everyone and I got to ring a bell that was outside the clinic that I was done. It really felt good. I don't have to get the Neulasta shot today my wbc counts were good. Feeling ok right now won't over do it for the next few days. I only gained 3 pounds whole tx. I want to thank you ladies for your words of encouragement and suggestions on how to treat side effects. I will be keeping in touch. I have my breast implant surgery on Dec 22 and I should be back to work in Jan. Love yon all and will try to download picture of me ringing bell soon. Stay strong everyone because we are all survivors.

Anyone on just Taxotere and Cytoxan?

Hello ladies
So far I'm feeling good on my 3rd day after 3tx. A little gas but I have been popping gas x tablets. Not as fatigue as before even though iron did drop after last cycle. No metallic taste. Only been eating soups and salads and fruits so far. My nails have darkened near the base but that is about it. So far I have never exp any nausea or vomiting and my onc said all my treatments may go that way for me. One more and I'm done. Im already have fuzz growing back I just let it stay and will see after treatment. Thank you all for being such an inspiration in my life.

Otter your hair looks great. I heard that the texture comes back curly and sometimes gray. That should be interesting.

Take care all Love u

Anyone on just Taxotere and Cytoxan?

HI ladies,

I have been having hot flashes and night sweats on and off since 1st tx and will have 3tx on tomorrow.  But I also have had periods both treatments.  The second tx my period was extremely heavy.  I had never experienced anything like it.  I read somewhere that it could be a sign of menopause among other things listed.  I'm 42 years old and I still have the hot flashes since my cycle has ended.  I wonder if my period will stop or not.  My mother was a late bloomer for her menopause (in her 60's).  Something tells me I won't get a break from my periods, just experience heavy cycles.  I also take steorids the day before, iv during tx and the day after.(4 tablets) and for some reason today I feel a little fatigued.  Now I know that after I bled to death from my period first day last Tuesday this could have affected my iron.  Which I an anemic and had a iron infusion already and my RBC count was coming up slowly.  So that could be it but I just got so tired later this evening after bringing in groceries and walking up my stairs to the computer room.  I will turn in early tonight and hopefully I can get some good sleep.  I have been drinking my water and will start my dental rinse tonight and the next few days.  Maybe this is what help me not have the metallic taste in my mouth the last tx.  I will see if it works this time again.  Hope everything goes well for everyone this week.  My prayers are with you all.

Anyone on just Taxotere and Cytoxan?

Hello ladies,

Haven't been on for awhile.  My second tx was much better for me.  I only experience real bad gas and had a espisode where I was on the toilet trying to go and gas at the same time.  Miserable feeling.  I did have the muscle aches after my Neulasta shot.  I never did get the metallic taste in my mouth this time, not sure why.  I  was able to walk in the Making Strides for Breast cancer walk on 10/11 and walk the whole 5 miles.  My fatigue was probably the first 2 days after my 2 tx on  9/30 but nothing like the first tx.  I guess the iron infusion is working somewhat.  But my period started this week and I  bled so heavy the first day, every hour in the bathroom and I have never had a period like that before.  I do have fibroid tumors and have had them for about 2years and never had a heavy cycle.  I'm pretty sure this may have affected my iron  again but I won't know until  3tx on 10/21/08. I have a slight headache today but it could be due to my period trying to come to an end.  I lost 4 pounds between 1st and 2tx but I eat like a pig.  So I will see what my weight has done this past time.  I will admit that I have been slack on drinking my water, I drink more the day before treatment and during treatment and maybe the day after.  I will make sure I do better the next time around.  I hope that everyone who has treatment next week everything will go well.  Take care.

Hello everyone
My 2 tx went well today. My labs were good wbc was high and the iron infusion seems to be working for me. My onc said it will take about a month to really see a difference. I never got mouth sores. I use a perio treatment day of tx and at least 4 days after tx. Sometimes my throat would be scratchy and so I have started to gargle with warm salt water. My sinuses started bothering me last treatment and so onc said sudafed was ok to take.As for constipation after my first tx I didn't have a bowel movement for 2 days and I was taking senekot and I also had hemmorids at the time and my cycle started. On top of that I was very fatigue so I was miserable but I didn't get any nausea or vomiting. For my 2 tx I took one senekot today and will for the next few days to make sure things move okay. I also drink a lot of water and they say that walking helps move your bowels. I definitely have the hot flashes and night and day sweats. Got a small fever 1 tx but but nothing serious. I will continue to monitor fever. My onc said I would probably be more fatigued this time plus I'm ending a bad relationship right now and don't need anymore added stress. Need I say more. LOL last tx I think day 6 I had the pain and took loritab. I will keep you posted.good luck ladies and we are conquerors over BC stay positive and in prayer. And I will be getting the rest of my hair shaved today because I'm tired of seeing it on my clothes. Lol .

My Hair and I

Hey Felecia
I have been growing my locs for 6 years.the picture shown is where I had just had them cut above my shoulders on 9/20. But since then my hair has been cut very short no more locs. But I do plan on getting them back. I like sister locs because they are very versatile in styling and can be as small as micro braids. Also no gel is used on ends to seal. Take care.

My Hair and I

Hello ladies
I'm new to your comunity and have enjoyed reading your posts. I have my 2nd tx on 9/30 and my hair is slowly coming out. I have been wearing sister locs for 6 yrs and so because I don't comb my hair I imagine that is why it is not out faster.if I actually pull on my loc it comes out But I have decided on Sat to go ahead and get it cut really short by a barber. I'm thinking about it too much and so to help me deal with hair loss I want to control it and cut it

Felecia I think you asked if dreds could be dyed and they can. I used to wear a short afro years ago before getting my sister locs and so once my hair grows back I will eventually get them again. Take care ladies.

Anyone on just Taxotere and Cytoxan?

Hello everyone
I have a question regarding the hair loss. Did anyone feel a tickling or some type of stimulation on the scalp prior to hair falling out? I'm on day 15 and for the past 3 days my scalp has been feeling funny but hair has not started to fall out yet. I was just wondering. My 2 tx is approaching next Tues and I'm hoping this goes well.

Iowagirl I hope things go well for you on next tx.

Hello everyone
Well I cut my hair because I'm approaching the 14 day mark on 9/23 and will start losing hair soon. I have been experiencing a headache for the past few days but I otherwise feel good. I hope my next TX will go well. Take care.

Hi Shari1232 I was told because I'm only having 4 TX that a port would not be necessary unless my treatment plan would change. I've heard other patients say they like the ports better but they were getting 6 or more TX's.

Hello everyone,

Day 7 for me and feeling awhole lot better.  Had the bone pain on day 6 and took Loritab.  I probably took so much I thought I would overdose myself.  But I'm still aching but getting around better.  I ate a sandwich from Subway couldn't help it but that was the biggest thing I had eaten since tx. Never ran a fever but I still monitor just in case. I have lost a few pounds not sure how much but my sister said I looked skinny.  I told her I have 2 more weeks to make up and eat now that my appetite is coming back. LOL.  Just wanted to say hi and good luck everyone starting this week and also finishing.  3 more tx's left for me.

Hello everyone I still havent experience any nausea but I have been very fatigue. Being anemic I knew that would be a problem even more. I will have my iron infusion next Tuesday. I still got a Neulasta shot the next day even though my wbc was high. My appetite is slowly coming back. Still dealing with hemmoroid but that is getting better. hopefully next TX will go well without the hemmoroid. LOL. Take care.

Anyone on just Taxotere and Cytoxan?

Hello everyone,

My first tx on yesterday went well.  I"m not experiencing any Se's as of yet it may be too early I will have to see how I feel the rest of the week.  But I'm not going to think to much about it just take one day at a time.  I did drink plenty of fluids during treatment and I have my water bottles and Gatorade by my bed.  I'm eating small meals today but I ate like a pig after treatment yesterday (couldn't help it LOL).I got my Neulasta shot on today so I will see how I feel later on. I am anemic so onc said I may have to have an iron infusion have to wait and see on the next blood test results.  The major problem I have right now is I have a hemorrhoid that I got after having a colonoscopy last Friday.  It is getting better but I am using suppositories and cream and that is just what has me down right now.  I finally was able to sleep last night but the night before tx I only slept three hours. And I know if was from the steroids because I was trying my best to go to sleep.  I will check with you later in the week.  Take care everyone.

Anyone on just Taxotere and Cytoxan?

Hello,

Amann you really look great.  I will have my first tx on Tuesday 9/9.  My dentist gave me a perio treatment oral rinse in case of mouth sores.  I figure I would just use it after first treatment and hopefully I won't get any mouth sores but I have to wait and see how things go.  I have pretty much decided that I would wear scarves and turbans during my treatment. I'm not sure if I will get a wig.  I have a friend who will make me some head wraps out of fabric.  My sister and I are going scarves, turban and hat shopping today. Laughing

Birdsong,

I went for my regular mammogram in June and that is when they discovered a spot and I went back for my second one with an ultrasound.  At this point I knew my life was going to change but I didn't want to claim anything.  After I had my biospy I got the call from the radiologist who did my biospy telling me it was breast cancer.  I was returning back to work from my lunch break.  My family was in shock and I cried with my coworker and then I told her now that I have this let's stop the crying and I have to get ready for this journey I'm getting ready to go through.  And there is so much information to take in that things became overwhelming but I did a lot of research and spoke with several breast cancer survivors on my job who I didn't even know had it.  The wealth of information giving to me has been helpful and doctor recommendations.  Every doctor on my team has been wonderful.  I also had an MRI and it showed another tumor next to the first one.  Even though they were small the fact that another was found helped me make my decision to have a mastectomy with reconstruction and I'm glad I did.  I am triple negative so chemotherapy is the only systematic way to treat my body. This is where my onc told me that you would wish that you were ER+. And the information I have received from this discussion board has been wonderful and I know that every woman will have a different response to tx but it helps to know what is out there to help alleviate the side effects.  Take care and I will keep you posted.
