Biography

I am 29 years old, married,  with a 3 year old daughter.  I am a stay at home mom and am attending school on-line to be a medical transcriptionist so I can work from home.  I had cryosurgery in 1999 to destroy cervical pre-cancer cells.  I was also diagnosed with melanoma in 2002, 2 months after the sudden death of my mother.  I had surgery to remove that, had 3 lymph nodes removed and see my dermatologist annually for follow-up.  Had a few more spots removed but everything has come back negative so far.  Until now.

Need advise on loosing hair

Hi Sue.  Hang In There Chica!!!  I am starting my chemo in about 3 weeks, trying to prepare myself as well.  I have a 3 year old daughter.  My husband buzzes his head and I just told my daughter that I was gonna get a hair cut and would look like daddy.  She's thinks its pretty cool.  I have been wearing bandanas already, just trying to adjust and my daughter wants to wear them too!  I'm not really into the whole wig thing.  I am actually going to braid my hair (as its almost to my butt) and cut it off as a keepsake!!!  Good Luck Girl and just keep smilin!

Surgery Next Week

Thanx Little Lamb.  I have sooo many questions & fears and soo few answers!!!  Yes, I have a wonderful man.  My husband doesn't really know what to say.  Other than this sucks!!!  I understand he's scared to.  What can he say.....

What can I expect when I get home from surgery next week, do you know???  I'm gonna be really sore, I'm sure.  How long will my recovery time be?  My surgeon said I probably gonna have 3 incisions.  I will get 1 of the drainage bags removed and hopefully the results from the surgery on my birthday, the following monday.  So that is actually a great present.  Just to have some answers that I'm so looking for!!  If it doesn't come back so good, then I will have to go in for another surgery for the mastectomy.  Also, I already have melanoma, do you know if I go in for radiation treatments is that going to be okay...........?

Surgery Next Week

Well Hello Fellow Fighters!!  First and most important, to you all, keep your faith in the Lord and He will get us all thru this.   I was diagnosed with IDC breast cancer yesterday.  I saw my surgeon today.  I am either in stage 2b or 3b.  We won't know til after my surgery.  My surgery is scheduled for next Thursday.  I am going in for a lumpectomy/partial mastectomy amd he is removing at least 6 lymph nodes.  I will have 2 drainage bags to come home with.  I am soooo thankful to have all you other women going thru this too.  It's sad to deal with, but it's nice to have a team effort.  I am 29 and I have a 3 year old daughter.  Now, my questions--if anyone has any answers......   Does this mean my daughter is at risk when she grows up?  How do I tell her what's going on when I start coming home sick from radiation & chemo treatments?  My initial lump is 4cm, is a lumpectomy going to be good or should I just have a mastectomy?  After my surgery, if the edges of what they remove are positive, I have to go in for another surgery to have the mastectomy.  But I would like to keep as much of the original me as I can.  I would hate to go in for mastectomy and then find out we didn't have to go that far.  It says in my path report that they are suspecting it is in my lymph nodes and already spread, what are my chances that I have full blown cancer and not going to see my baby grow up?????  I'm just scared and want to talk to someone and have all the answers!!! (Don't we all) :)
