I am 23 years old and I was recently diagnosed with stage IV estrogen+ breast cancer. I have three spots on my liver. I had the two lumos removed and I am on my second monthly treatment of hormone therapy. Both breast will be removed this winter. I feel and look fine. I don't know what to expect. Will my health decline? I know that cancer in the liver is not good and I just don't know what kind of future I am looking at.

Hi, antc. Sorry you had to join us, especially so young. Are you going chemo along with the HT? Are you HER2+?

My mom is Stage IV bc, so we've had a lot of experience with mets and with talking to other women to mets. You may want to post over on the mets section of this board, too. There's another website for young women as well, www.youngsurvival.org, that you might want to check out.

How you will do all depends on how well your mets respond to treatment. There are a lot of chemos available if the HT don't work.

Hi - My name is Samantha and I recently was also diagnosed with Stage IV Invasive Ductal Carcinoma with mets to my liver (3 spots).  I was actually reading your post thinking it was mine! I just got on this site and it's nice to hear from other people going through similar situations, especially my age.  I was diagnosed on Aug. 14th and was on hormonal treatments for over 2 months.  My first scan was just the other day and it actually came back showing some tumor growth.  My body didn't respond to the hormone therapy, so we are switching to chemo this week (Taxol).  I am getting care at University of Pennsylvania and feel that I'm definitely in excellent care.  I have been staying strong and know that all the prayers out there will be answered one way or another.  My email is SWatson24@comcast.net if you would like to talk.

On a side note..I just had both breasts removed on 11/2 and I had tissue expanders placed in (my permanent implants are on hold because of the chemo) but I went through my surgery extremely smoothly and am soo happy with the results...it was a lot easier than I thought! Goodluck.

Hi there, I am glad to hear there are people I can relate to....I am a 27 year old who was diagnosed in july 07 with stage II IDC, -nodes, and I am currently on herceptin. I have developed congestive heart failure unfort from the treatment, so my reconstructive surgery has been delayed, very depressing. I would love to chat with someone off this forum, my email is hotmedic14@yahoo.com

Hello ladies,

I was 26 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. (I also had a rare form of cancer ay age 16)  I had a rt. mastectomy. After genetic testing, (BRCA 1 and 2 positive) I had an oopherectomy/hysterectomy at 28. My husband left when when I was 30.  I found myself young, single and dealing with cancer related issues.  I am doing great but am planning a left mastec. now.  If anyone would like to chat I am here. You can pm me or just respond.

I am so sorry that you had to join our sisterhood like this... I am also a stage IV and was dxed at 31.  I have had my moments but for  the most, I have felt fine. I have 11 bones infected with this dreaded diease but doing well and haven't been declining.

My advice, keep strong and positive, because Im not scared of the cancer but the cancer should be scared of me.....

If you need anything or need to talk feel free to pm me and i will go over my whole treatment regime or just here to talk.

Many hugs for you..... You will be fine...

Hi, I was diagnosed at 29 (June 2007) with grade III BC, I've had a mastectomy, and underwent 6 cycles of chemo, FEC & Taxotere and currently receiving Herceptin as well as Tamoxifin.  I think it's only now that I'm able to talk about what's actually happened with others who have gone through the same ordeal, I just wanted to say a massive thank you to those who have posted and shared their own personal stories.  X

There's sections of the boards both for HER2+ women and for hormonal therapy (with a specific thread just for Tamoxifen) that you may want to check out if you haven't already. Smile
