Has anyone on here successfully applied for soc. securtiy disability?
I am seriously thinking of it, but don't have much hope. I don't think we'd get much anyway. I haven't worked since '01, and people much worse off than me get jobs, but I thought what the heck, I could try...
There wasn't enough room for all the stuff I wanted to list.. lymphedema, chronic pain, depression, breast cancer (ha) and so on.
I also just found out today I'm BRCA 1 positive. go me. ha ha.

Methusala you should apply they don't give much money but the drug coverage really makes a difference and in Canada they cover dental and (eye glasses with permission every two years). Its really scary apply for disability to me it was giving in. I've lived with chronic pain since 89 from a back surgury and never gave in to it. But with the cancer it all was just to much and I couldn't work. My biggest fear now is how much the taxols have upped my pain levels and of course my bowel blockage. But without diability I would have ended up on the streets. It doesn't pay out much just enough to live on if your really careful and I am. So I'm glad I applied. Give it a shot it sure looks like you have enough reasons to apply. Good luck and the most important thing is to have a good Dr. to help you fill our the forms, they have there section and you have yours. I somehow managed to fill mine out when I was total basket case and I still thank God for my Angel Dr. because I couldn't have done it without her. Again go for and Good luck. PN

I know of allot of women who get disability. I would definately try and have the doctor list all your cronic problems associated with this diease make sure he is very thorough. Extreme fatigue, Cronic Lymphodma, Severe Depression, use very vivid adjective and you should be able to. If you are denied, there are advocacy and disability lawyers trained to get you approved. Hope you feel better. Roxanne Dx 6/5/2007, 4cm, Stage IV, Grade 3, 2/30 nodes, mets, ER+/PR-, HER2- |
