Can anyone PLEASE tell me if I will know the results of a diagnostic mammo and MRI on the day I have the exams?

When I had my diagnostic mammogram last month, they told me before I left that I would need at least one biopsy. The radiologist wanted to look at my films some more, to decide whether I needed two or three areas biopsied. My doctor had the written report the next day, and I was told I needed 3 areas biopsied. I hope your facility can tell you your results the day of your exam. We spend far too much time waiting and worrying as it is. If they feel that you need further pics, they do them right then and I've even had an ultrasound done on the spot. As for the MRI, I had to schedule that and it wasn't 'read' while I was there. At any rate, you could try calling the oncologist for the results before the 28th...that seems like to long to wait. I'd give them until about Wednesday and then call and see if they have your results. Tell them you are nervous and NEED to know. Hopefully they will be compassionate. You may have to wait for a nurse to call you back (at least that has been my experience). Best wishes! |

Generally, I find most drs like to give you the report in person, so this was unusual...but it was good news and he sounded genuinely happy. |
