Hello all,
My mom has lost 1/4 of her hair. It is still not enough to resort to a wig but the thinning is noticable. I was thinking of buying some spray on hair products for her to hide the bald spots. Something like Dermamatch, Good Looking Hair or even the expensive ones like Magic hair or Fabulan.
I was hoping to see if any of you ladies have had any experience with these products. Do they work as well as the pics on the web. Even if she can spray it on and look natural for a couple hours, i am ok with that. She is a school teacher and you know the kids can be really mean when they dont understand the circumstances.
Please advise.
Thank you

Hi there! What a doll you are to think of your mom and her needs! I am experiencing the thinning hair myself, I have very thick hair, but the top and crown i can see the scalp a bit. I thought the same way you do, just some sort of disguise...I'll share what works very well for me so far (I am on CMF, 5 txts, so far, so far along in this) Go on the QVC site and type in Cream Scalp concealer. There is a cream hair product in various shades that is water soluable. After I style my hair in the morning, I just pit a bit of it on the tip of my finger, and you rub it into the places where she feels her scalp is visible. It is instant concealment! lasts all day too! The kids can be right next to her and not see a thing, it is quite amazing. I did also look at that hair in a can, thinking that would be the answer, but my hair is still too thick and it caked onto the rest of the hair. Reasonably priced as well this stuff. Good luck to you and your mom. It's no picnic to get thru, but do able. xoxo annie When you get a chance to sit it out or dance....I hope you dance!

Sarika: Thank you sweetie! Prayers to you for your mom as well from me. Good luck, this stuff works really well. She can also buy Roux Fanciful Hair color. Sold in CVS type store or a drugstore, it is a temporary hair color, sort of a "makeup" that is a rinse in, shampoo out. If she can find a good match, it also works well to disguise the thinning scalp. Good luck to your mom! You don't say what regime of chemo she is on, but since her hair is only thinning, I assume it is CMF. I am on #6 of 8 and doing quite well. She should do fine with it. Good luck to you dear, it will be fine. hugs annie p.s. steer mom to this site, lots of helpful ladies and she can get tons of support and tips! When you get a chance to sit it out or dance....I hope you dance!

My friend's husband - no cancer just balding - used spray on hair. Don't bother with it. The other women are suggesting better products. |
