Hi, I'm fairly new to these boards. I've only been going through this crazy ordeal for the last 4 weeks so I was posting on the Not Diagnosed board, but then realized I've been waiting for test results so I hoped maybe someone could give me some advice here. So here goes with the abbreviated version of my story. I had been having the spontaneous and clear nipple discharge from my left breast only for more than a year. I asumed it was hormonal, but when I finally mentioned it to my gynecologist she tested my blood and said it was definately not hormones. She took a cytology and found some abnormal cells and then sent me to a breast surgeon. I had a mammogram first which came back clear. The the doc decided she wanted to skip the ultrasound and go straight to the MRI, which I had done last week. I got a call back yesterday to say that the MRI was clean BUT she emphasized that this does not mean that I don't have a problem. She said that I needed exploratory surgery and I have to come back Tuesday, I guess to discuss my options? Oh I forgot to mention that the discharge comes from at least 4 or 5 different ducts. At first they though maybe it was a papilloma, but did not find one. So I am confused as to just what the heck is it? Has anyone else been down this road. It seems most people find a lump and I have not heard of many people having surgery just based on discharge. I want to be as proactive as possible when she gives me the options, I just want to know what to expect with the surgery. I hope I am making some sense. Thanks for any help!!
