Hi,

I found a lump in my left breast which was painful and felt about the size of a walnut.  I went to my doctor who sent me for mammo, ultrasound.  The radioligist ended up doing a needle aspiration, though no fluid was obtained.  I was scheduled for a lumpectomy but the day before when I met with the surgeon, he instead did some biopsies.  The reason he said was that then we would know what we are dealing with and would safe me from another surgery if they found out later is was cancer.  This news scared me more.  My breast hurts and has been even before all the tests, also it came up quick.  I noticed it about a month ago during my period and thought that was why it was so sore.  After my period was over, it was then I noticed the lump.  I have been asked if I had any trauma to that breast, which I didn't.

Anyways, I am waiting and was told that I should get the results on Monday.  I am soooo afraid.

I'm glad that I found this site as I have found alot of info.

I'll let you know what the biopsy results tell.

Hi Jude! I also had a biopsy (may 8th) & I'm waiting for test results too. The waiting is the worst. I've been waiting since the end of MARCH for the biopsy & results. I have mirco calcifications that were seen in yearly mammogram the beginning of MARCH. Lots of waiting. But I wanted to see a breast specialist that has an great reputation in my part of the woods, PA. I had met him before with my sis-in-law. I really liked him so I chose to see him. Didn't think it would take this long. Any ways can't tell you much more than what I've been through. Read the threads from other posts, there is a lot of wonderful support and positive vibes here. A WONDERFUL BUNCH OF WOMEN! And when all else fails I go to the Humor & Games section. Sometimes laughter is the best medicine at least to make you smile forget about waiting for awhile. Sending us B9 thoughts.......julz4!

Fear while waiting is so NORMAL.  I hope you have other things to keep your mind and body busy until you get your results.  Regardless of the information you receive get a paper copy so you have the ability to research what this means.  My experience was I really didn't digest what anyone said until I had time to relax about the diagnosis.  Even whenn getting a benign diagnosis I think one needs to explore what the benign finding means (ie am I at an increase risk at a later time?) Sending B9 thoughts.

Hi Jude, I wish you the  best of luck - remember - 80% of all lumps are benign and cists.  Come back for more info. - everyone is so knowledgeable to all your questions.  Good luck on Monday, we're thinking of you.

Best,

Heidi

Hi Julie

in 2001 I had surgery for micro calsifications.  I had been having mamograms every six months for 4 years.  and then in 2001 a second area appeared.  My biopsy was inAugust of 01 and the first lab could not determine if the results were cancer or not cancer, so my path went to a larger lab in the state of New York andt hey had the same results.  I trust my doctor whole heartedly and asked him which was he wanted to call it.  He said he wanted to treat it like cancer was starting andi t had been caught early.  Because of the second area and I would havet o have a 4th of my breast removed I discussed it with my surgeon and I had a mastectomy.  I do not regret it at all.  it was caught  ssooooooo  early that I was ablet o have an implant completed during the same surgery.

When I visited the oncologist, I did not need chemo or radiation but I did take tomaxifan for 5 years.

Keep you head up

All my prayers,

sandy

Jude- Your story is exactly the same as mine, except that I'm 58 and found my lump out of nowhere (I no longer get my periods). Same size lump, same pain and tenderness,

I had a biopsy today, so i won't know until Friday. Please let us know what the results are.  I'm thinking good thoughts for you! You also Julee!!
