Had an excisional biopsy done in March w/B9 results. Just ADH, microcalcifications. Anyway, onco (from prev. DCIS in other breast) decided he felt a lump and wanted diagnostic mammo and MRI done.
Yesterday, several mammo views later got a sonogram. Radiologist said Onco. had felt a lump but sono. determination was unclear,it could be scar tissue. MRI would clarify that. NATURALLY after the MRI yesterday the tech said results would take 2 to 3 days. My next onco appt isn't until the 28th! If there is a problem, do you think the onco will call me sooner? Also, since B9 rept. earlier shouldn't everything be negative?
Geez, everyone here is going through something and I really don't mean to complain but all this boob stuff has been going on for a year now. I know now what people mean about having a mastectomy and getting off "the rollercoaster".
God Bless you all.

Hope you get B9 results but there is no need to wait 2-3 days to get MRI results these days. In most hospitals(atleast the ones I use) radiologists read the scans the same day and your dr should have it right away. In my case, I get results within 2-3 hours of the scan. The radiologist reads it within a couple if hours and my onc will either email me the report or call me right away as she knows how stressful waiting is. I know not all doctors respond so quickly but you should call your onc today and let them know you are waiting. Dx 2/22/2008, IDC, 6cm+, Stage IIIb, Grade 3, ER-/PR-, HER2- |

Thanks FMGs. My onco is only in on Tues and Wed but I do think a call to his office might at least make me feel better, whether I get anything definite or not! I need a good, long nap. Dx 5/8/2007, DCIS, 3cm, Grade 3, 0/1 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2+ |

austin....I completely understand your anxiety since I've had enough of it myself since diagnosis in 2005. It does sound, though, like you're developing scar tissue from the excisional biopsy or, perhaps, from your DCIS tx (same breast?). Our oncs have to pursue every slight change and it certainly triggers many-a-freakout. I do agree, though, that you should press for an answer as soon as possible. There is no need to be worried any longer than necessary! Keep us posted.... ~Marin I can't change the wind, but I can adjust my sails!

I have had to wait 3 to 5 days for results of my MRIs, except for the most recent one in Mar, when the radiologist read it while I was still there. I think it depends on what facility you go to, how busy they are on any given day and if they have a lot of old films that they have to look at to make comparisons. The last thing you want is for the radiologist to rush thru and make a mistake. Anne Dx 9/5/2003, LCIS, Stage 0, 0/0 nodes |
