Hello LE-rs.

This time it is on the chest. I feel al burning pain and there is edema. I contacted my ps's office, he wasn't in but his nurse saw me. She could see the edema and the slight pinkness but said she saw no evidence of an infection. However, it feels like last time and it came on so sudden just like last time.

So I am to start the antibiotics again. I REALLY HOPE this clear up so I can have my exchange surgery on Tuesday.

I have now taken to wiping my hands and arms off with diluted bleach to attempt to kill any germs. I have no idea why this is suddenly an issue.

All I can try to be is a cautionary example of just how serious LE can be... AND how unpredictable!

Thanks again for all the help you have given me.

love,

Gina, hugs to you, hoping antibiotics calm everything down and you can have your exchange as planned.

Best,

I know how you're feeling. I knew that something was going on at least a day before the docs could detect the infection.

You may also want to eat a little extra protein, and some vitamin C or other antioxidants as well.

Hope you get everything under control

Sue

I'm truly sorry your dealing with this, NoSurrender just before your big event. Hopefully the antibiotic and extra rest will do the trick. I'm sure your PS would wish to know of how you are fairing this weekend too.

Maybe the bleach on the hands is a tad overly aggressive; we need our normal skin flora which do act as a time honored immune method. Bleach on the hospital door knobs or in a sick persons room commonly touched objects are not a bad idea though.

I hope this improves by late tonight or early tomorrow.

All the best to you.

Tell you what, we'll believe you on the "serious and unpredictable," and now you can stop being an illustration of that point, okay? Get well quick!

Hi my friends,

The antibiotics kicked in.

I now know what to watch for.

The burning and tightness is not just discomfort from the tissue expanders, in me, it is a sign an infection is coming.

THANK YOU for being here!!!!

g, that's taking "Know thyself" to new heights.Tongue out SO GLAD you were so quick to react! How about an infectious disease specialist after the surgery's over, to help you sort out the "whys" of this situation and hopefully avoid any repeats?

In the meantime, looking forward with you to successful surgery and a quick and smooth recovery!

G,

Today's your day if all is as planned. So wish to say I am thinking of you and your surgeon, for safe caring of you, a steady surgical hand and benign post operative course.

Wishing you well this perioperative period.

Hi Gina I wish you well with your surgery.and am walking with you as you deal with the pinkness and oedma. I don't know your situation as far expanders etc go but I lost 2 expanders due to cc and infection. On my 3rd try I was very proactive demanded an antibitioc to start 3 days to surgery, used hibitane washes 3 days before and remainded on antibitics after exchange for a week. I had a consult with infectious desieses after my 2nd infectionwhich helps.

I take an antibiotic before dental work, cortisone shots in joints and colonscopys. Wishing you luck it is hard not to get frustrated with this isn't it.All the best Mrs b
