Hello,

My mom has been diagnosed with bc that have spread to lymph nodes under her arm and around the breast area in Jan '08. Not sure exactly what stage..She started out with neoadjuvant chemo of taxol and something else and finished her 4th dose recently. However, she has noticed a swollen lymph node by her ear right after a 5 hour flight(which idk if it had anything to do w it).... This is freaking me out.

My question is, can bc still spread even though you are on high dose chemo ?

I'm really worried and too impatient to wait for her to get tested...

Thanks ladies.

Hi jb123,

I know how worried you are about your mom. She may have an infection going on. Hoepfully she didn't catch something on her plane flight! Chemo compromises our immun e system something awful, so she really needs to protect herself from germs.

I hope that you get an answer soon from her doc.

Sounds like they are treating your mother very aggressively.  I had neo-adjvent chemo also.  She will be compromised somewhat from the chemo, so make sure that she is taking good care of herself.  I asked this question when I was doing chemo, my onc said that there is a small chance, but not very likely to happen.  I just wanted to add... there are alot of us women here that had nodal involvement, and we are doing fine. Sending you hugs!!!!!!!
