Did anyone have odd feelings in their breast before dx? I'm trying to determine if the strange feelings I have in my left breast, specifically, an occasional fullness, warmness or tingling similar to lactation, are symptoms of DCIS or just a coincidence.

Nope, no strange feelings at all.  My breast was full of DCIS, but I had no palpable lump.  And although I've had breast problems all my life, lots of lumps and cysts and all sorts of things, when I was diagnosed, it was one of the few times when I actually had no symptoms and no problems at all.

Have you been diagnosed or are you wondering whether the feelings you have in your breast might be DCIS?

Beesie, no, I haven't been diagnosed. I'm at high risk for bc due to family history (mom dx at 38, grandmom, great-grandmom) and have just been having these strange feelings for about two months. From reading posts on these boards, I just started to wonder whether this was something I ought to be concerned about. I'm having a mammo on Friday, so I guess we'll see. Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post.

Good luck on Friday.  Hopefully everything is found to be boringly normal!

Well, I did, but I'm not sure it is directly-related...I went for my annual ob-gyn deal and mentioned it - he said it was hormonal, peri-menopausal type stuff and perfectly normal at my age...I had my first mammo 6 months later, when I turned 40, and ended up with a DCIS diagnosis!  However, the feelings were bi-lateral, yet I only had DCIS in one breast....

I mentioned this to my surgeon - he said "Oh my - if every woman with those *feelings* thinks she needs a biopsy, we'd be overwhelmed with surgeries!"  But I was not surprised I ended up with ER/PR + cancer.  I think I've probably always had an excess of female hormones in my body - I'm a fertility "poster girl" and get pretty intense PMS....

I had significant family history, as well, which *I* believe is the main reason for my diagnosis (despite a negative BRAC result...)

Good luck!

I have to admit, i felt something strange in February(pre-dx)and have felt a warm sensation since the biopsy.  My anxiety has me imagining cancer spreading through the whole breast!

My DCIS breast would swell much more than my good side before my period. Inasmuchas that felt odd, then I guess it did.

Well, the good news is: my mammo was perfectly fine!  My dr. couldn't site the cause for my odd feelings; she thought it sounded more muscular (since I do a lot of weight-training) and wasn't concerned in the least bit.  Perhaps it is just a hormonal thing related to my age (40). Thanks to all who sent their good wishes -- it worked!  May you all be well.
