Look up my old posts about it. Just go to the member name and read I started in July last year. I would write longer but having some bowel problems again and need to sign off. But I will write you tomorrow. Oh I think my FEC posts were under the name pearl49 in case you can't find them. PN

Hi Mizz, I am going next week for my last FEC treatment. I am on 3xFEC and 3 x taxotere + herceptin, then herceptin for the remainder of the year. Luckily, I have not had many side effects. Nausea for 1-2 days, and heartburn for a few days, but they have managed it very well with meds. I find that I feel pretty normal after day 4. I have worked through treatment, taking treatment day off and working from home day 2. By day 3, I'm in the office again, but a bit tired. I have a few strands of hair left, but a really good wig so nobody has noticed. My eyebrows and eyelashes have not fallen out. Good luck with treatment! Hi mizz, I just had my first tx of FEC last week, I am also on 3xFEC then 3x taxotere. No herceptin as i am triple neg. I had no real nausea to speak of just felt a little yukky on my 2nd day out , just overall and in the mouth. Brushing after meals and keeping up with the soda rinses has helped that, don't have any mouth sores ...yet. Got congested and started sneezing around the 2nd day, apparently a side effect from the C and had a slight headache but all very manageable. So just keep up with the nausea meds and drink lots of water! Good luck! Dx 3/4/2008, IDC, 1cm, Grade 3, 5/12 nodes, ER-/PR-, HER2- |

I did 3 x FEC, then 3 x Taxotere - last infusion was May 10, 2007. Then I started the year of Herceptin in June 2007, had my last one May 8, 2008. The FEC was not that bad for me - but the trick is to take the anti-nausea meds they give you, even if you don't feel very nauseous, for the first few days after your infusion. The trick is not to play "catch up" with the nausea - You have to pre-empt it. Before each chemo treatment I would stock on on some mild veg. soups, applesauce, soda crackers, ginger ale and this is basically what I would eat for about the first week afterwards. Drink alot of water also - even during the infusion. You will probably be very tired, it will alleviate as you get closer to the date of your next infusion, and then it starts again. It really wasn't that bad for me - good luck to you. Dx 10/16/2006, IDC, 1cm, Stage I, Grade 2, 0/16 nodes, ER+/PR+, HER2+ |
