I am on tx 9 of 30 and still feel fine.   Still riding and just started a swim class.  Although I just read somewhere that chlorine might be bad for the skin.  Undecided

I was just wondering if anyone makes it through without the fatigue.

Hi Breeze, my rad oncologist told me to wait 4 weeks post treatment because of potential irritation from the chlorine.  I have 9 days to go before splash down!

Good luck!

Hi Breeze,

I've got 6 tx left (boosts), and until this week have held up pretty well.  I'm missing a couple of days of work right here at the end because I'm trying to heal some of the burns I've been left with.  That is causing some fatigue - I think my body is using my energy to heal!

There were a couple of days that were a bit tiring, but nothing a good night's sleep didn't help.

Good luck to you!

I didn't have fatigue until I was about a month into it, but once it hit, it hit! My 33 tx were spread over 7.5 weeks because of the holidays. It ended last week, and I am just starting to see the slightest bit of energy come back.

Good luck... hope your energy continues!

Hi, I didn't feel extra fatigue until a week or two after I was done. I think it is different for everyone, but I wonder if there is anyone who had no fatigue at all? Not from what I've heard with the people I went through Rads with on the October thread.

Stay positive and be good to yourself.

Hi, my radiation will not start until April, but I was wondering whether I will be fit enough to drive there myself every day. It would be a 30 minute drive each way...

Thanks and take good care.

Seoulite, there was a gal who drove more than you will have to, and I think she did just fine. From what I hear most people just need an extra nap, or to cut out evening activities - but most don't have to stop working and doing what they normally did. So you will probably be fine. Best wishes to you and God bless you.

Hi I had a realy hard time with chemo but managed radiation okay. I was able to schedule the last appointment in the day and my employer let me leave an hour early. (sick time)  I don't know if it was psychological or not but being able to go home and rest, just wear a cotton tee helped, i think.    I only had a 20 minute drive and it was okay.   I really didn't push to do anything else but work ,rads and laundry on the weekends.

I waited 6 weeks before swimming in the ocean...but I was lucky with burns too.  Despite being very fair it went better than expected...maybe because of those cotton tees.  Take care and listen to your body...Rest and try to laugh a bit..Good luck

Surprisingly I didn't suffer that much fatigue.  I worked the entire time.  Went thru 6 weeks of rads, left work by 3:30 pm, and my drive was 45 minutes from work to the treatment center.  Some days I even did a workout dvd when I got home.  Made sure I was in bed by no later than 8:30, maybe 8:45 each night, so I could get my 8 hours of sleep.  It was inconvenient, but do-able.  The only thing I suffered from was the burns.

Thanks so much for all your comments. It sounds like as if most people still function very well. I will still have to take care of the household and my 2 girls and so I'm trying to plan ahead and maybe hire some help for that time. We are currently living in Korea which makes the whole situation a bit more challenging. Innocent

Good luck to all of you!

Now that I am done with Rads (several months now).  I would like to report that I had no fatigue and I kept a very active schedule.  I was the second appointment of the day at 7:15am 5days a week for 6 weeks.  My skin turned brown but that's all.

Breeze,

You look like an eventer.  Good for you.  I just finished 31 of 35 radiation treatments.  I haven't had any real fatigue, just some yawns in the afternoon.  I still do all the barn chores, care and feeding for the boys.

I personally think the fatigue might be partially from interrupted sleep which seems to be a bigger factor for me.  My appointment was 9:30 everyday which is great.  I have friends who had appointments all over the day and had kind of a helter skelter schedule.

Are you still riding?  I haven't much, but now that spring is here......

I was able to ride and compete in eventing all through Chemo (AC and Taxol) and radiation.  I did take 2 weeks off after the double Mast.

Hi sister!  I was 63, so I guess my fatigue was normal, considering my age.  But I worked throughout, desk job.  I just made sure nothing was planned for after work, I just sat.  By morning, I felt fine.  I had my zap around 4pm.

So good for you!  Some super healthy, strong women get through this quite easily, unfortunately, they don't post very often.  So let's all hope things continue to be easy.  I left for a difficult whale trip to Baja California just 6 days after rads ended.  So it can be quite easy, I didn't burn either.

Good luck, honey, Shirlann

You are right Shirlann - some healthy, strong women don't often post.  I didn't during my chemo because I read so many entries from women who did not fare as well as myself and I felt to post about how well I was doing would be like rubbing their face in it and would make them feel worse.

I am seeing things differently during my radiation treatment though.  I have had several conversations with women and men at the treatment center who have had positive experiences during their treatments.

I have also had several conversations with women and men who did not.  But these individuals were curious as to what I did different from them.  We talked and shared and some found that simple changes did make them feel better.

So - now I post the positives and pray for all of us.

I have had no loss of energy during my radiation and I am 26 down with 10 to go.  I exercise everyday, eat fresh fruits and veggies, no dairy, no caffiene, low fat, low sugar.  I splurge one day a week and eat whatever I want. I meditate and spend some time to think of everyone in my life. I stay positive by always remembering those less fortunate than myself.

This works for me.

I was not fatigued until this week which marked 24/33.  Prior, I was active, working playing tennis.  This week, I am working half time, pumping myself w/ caffiene to get through the day.  I have been unable to shake a cold though this whole thing so that may exacerbate things

I had a few days when I conked out for a spell but only two days when I stayed horizontal and didn't feel great. Mostly, I got through it pretty well. I waited almost 3 weeks before starting Arimidex so I would have no BC treatments for a while but to also make sure side effects from rads didn't confuse possible side effects from hormine therapy. So far, so good.
