Oh, you bet!

I finished 3-D conformal therapy last week,  started tamoxifen this week, and am going nuts.

I'm second-guessing so many of my decisions - maybe I should have had a mastectomy instead of a lumpectomy, should I be on AIs rather than tamox?

Now what - just live?

All I have to do is sit around and see if it comes back?

I'm trying to use the time to work very hard on eating healthily, since you can always do more with your diet, and exercise - because working out helps to prevent a recurrence, and in July I go for my first follow-up imaging study, and see my doctors.

Fortunately, I'm still fatigued from rads, and have a full-time job, and am in physical therapy for a knee injury, so I don't have that much time to think about it.

I think this is normal. I think we need to give ourselves permission to be crazy for a while. My husband keeps reminding me that I have been treated for CANCER, and it's going to take time to get over it.

Think I better go to the gym.

Hope more people post - this could be a really interesting topic

I'm ER+, so my medical oncologist put me on hormone therapy.

Do you have one doctor for everything, or do you need to go to another specialist?

Do you know what the hormonal status of your tumor was?

After my biopsy, I was told that the tumor was ER/PR+, and had to do advanced testing to see if I was Her+ or -. After my surgery, I got a pathology report, confirming the biopsy.

Did you get a report explaining what they found?

I read a little German, if you want to post some

Lizzie - Ich spreche Deutsche nur ein bissen! But, I can read scientific German pretty well.

If your tumor was hormone-negative, and you've had the prescribed rads and/or chemo, then you may be done, except for regular checkups.

What's in your real life? I have a husband, and 18-yr-old, a full-time job, and a new exercise program. I'm hoping that this will keep me busy enough not to get too anxious.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Lizzie, most of us feel this sense of "lost" when treatment ends.  It is a reaction to Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome.  Very normal.  And no, most docs/oncs do very little (mammo's at 6 months, only) around here, that is all I had.  But you are not alone, all the attention, then, nothing.  Some people have a lot done (tumor markers, MRI's, etc., but they have VERY good insurance).  The rest of us, nothing.

I am 9 years post treatment with Triple Neg, and just fine.

Gentle hugs, Shirlann

Lizzie - if not von Deutchland,

where are you from? Do you have any family support, or maybe other women from where you live?

I'm pretty sure I'd have a hard time if I was sick away from home.

I am nine years finished. I am a little puzzled about results. There are no results with radiation.

You just finish and that is that. They have no way of telling if you will recur or metastasize. Well, there are some tests, MRI's, Tumor Markers, etc., but most of us just get on with our lives at this point.

Each situation is very different, however.

Hi everyone, my mother had breast cancer removed in december. She finished chemo three weeks ago and now she's undergoing radio therapy. I know after she'll start taking a hormonal pill as part of the course for the following five years. She didn't have a full mastectomy, only the part of the cancer was removed. The cancer was 4 cm and Doctors removed 8 lymph nodes in all, 6 were infected with cancer cells...We don't know what happens next, we are all very anxious, especially mom and she is very scared of what will happen next. Hope you all have good results in the end.
