Has anyone had a problem with the lining of your uterus getting thicker using Tamoxifen? I got my period or so I think after not having it for a year & 3 months. I have been on Tamoxifen for 1 year & 2 months and observations from an ultrasound revealed that my lining has thickened. I now have to get a biopsy.

Yep. Mine is slightly thickened -- I've been on tamoxifen for 5-1/2 months. I had a tvu/s for an ovarian cyst (turned out to be "functional" -- meaning I was ovulating -- great!) that showed thickening. They just told me to see if I had any abnormal bleeding between periods and let them know. So far, so good. Good luck! Layne "Hit it with a sledgehammer until it submits or dies ...."

I was on tamox for 1 y and had thickening of lining and ovarian cysts. I too had a biopsy which turned out neg. My onc did not discuss this side effect with me do I kind of freaked out at the thought I know had uterine cancer! My period stopped after being on Tamox 2 months. Once I stopped the tamox my period started and the lining improved. The chances of this being something serious is low but can increase the longer you are on tamox. Hi Valerie So, did you stop taking Tamoxifen? How terrible was the biopsy? I am worried of course, hearing cancer again or even a hysterectomy...we all have been through so much...Thanks Ellen Dx 10/31/2006, IDC, 1cm, Stage I, Grade 3, 0/3 nodes, ER+/PR+, HER2+ |

Ellen, I just went thru the uterine thickening thing. I was on Tamoxifen from 98-02. I am currently on Femara. I debated and debated the biopsy and finally 'caved' and got it because of the fact that I was on Tamo and Femara can cause atypical cells....LOVELY!!!! My gyno's PA did it and she was WONDERFUL. I had an IUD inserted YEARS ago that was MUCH worse. I took 2 Ibuprofen before and I can't say I had any pain. I went shopping afterward. I had a slight bit of cramping and it felt a little strange for about a week....kind of like I had been scraped inside....might have been my imagination but there was some sort of weird feeling there. Nothing bad for me at all. Best wishes BTW, everything was fine. |
