Hey Guys! I start the same treatment on monday. Every 3 weeks I'll get it. And I have to take steriods before. I think it's the standred pre-med. I hope it has little side effects. A/C was the worst ever!!

Hey Guys,

I am on Taxol weekly and Avastin every two weeks for over 2 months. I will finish the 3rd cylce next Wednesday. I am doing very fine on it. After EC, Taxotere, Carboplatin, Gemzar, it is the most tolerable!!! chemo for me and I hope that it will work me. End of my I will have a CT-can of my chest (i have lung mets)

Mentionable side effects:

hair loss, sometimes headaches, a little bit of fatigue.

unfortunately I have problems with my wihte blood counts. But I have one shot of Neupogen weekly, so I can get my chemo on time. And one day after chemo I have a dry throat, thus I drink a lot.

Dear Buzz, may I ask you if your hairs grew back during treatment?

I wish you the best...

Many hugs to all from Vienna:)

well i remember now about the third day after taxol being painful.  I have had a rather tough day, but im ten years older this time than the last time i took this soooo.....ive been really bummed about having to take it at all.  Apparently the cancer cells found their way around the Arimadex and so hormone therapy isnt working very well anymore for me.  My onco said this route is the most benign and that there is a 50\50 chance  it will work.   He said we will do three months, but he will know if it is working or not in two.  How long he will continue with the treatment if it is working, i dont know.  Im not sure what the protocal is.  He said it is not the same huge dose they give at initial dx.  and that i may not lose my hair...........id like to keep my hair this timeUndecided . Ive been having sort of a pity party today..........bla,,,

What kind of dose of taxol are those of you on who say it's low & might not cause hair loss?

I asked my dr. about getting a low dose & he said its all calculated on height & weight to determine the correct dose for me.

Is that how its determined for you?

I was on Taxol/Avastin weekly for two years plus. Never lost my hair. Had some fatigue, bloody nose occasionally, neuropathy for sure, and on the third day after treatment, I didn't feel all that great. But I just ignored it all and pushed on. It was highly doable. Especially liked not losing my hair!

I am currently on Taxotere every three weeks and Xeloda 2wks/1wk off.  I am currently awaiting approval for Avastin from ins co.  I have had some SE such as some fatigue, mouth sore (taking Valtrex), queasy feeling, run from constipation to diahhrea, starting get neuropathy (only had 2 cycles of each drug).

I did Taxol during my first round of chem (5/1/07-8/7/07).  I 1st had A/C 4 rounds and Taxol 4 round.  To me the Taxol was the roughest I had alot of leg pain and had to take Darvocet to control the pain for about 2-3 days.  I had tx on Tuesday and took Darvocet from Fri to Sun or Mon depending on the pain level.

So far with the Taxotere I have not had to take any pain meds.  Sorry I can't give you any info on the Avastin since I haven't started taking it yet?  I can say that with the Xeloda and Taxotere the swelling in the lymph nodes have shrank considerably and the my onc was very excited about that.

Hope all goes well with your tx and best of luck to you!

Hugs,

Linda
