ok, so maybe i'm not the smartest tool in the shed. Just a question about the symptoms listed for IBC.

It says Ridges on the skin, what exactly does that mean? does anyone know where I could see photo OR explain it better to a simpleton like me. Also, red patches? small big, smooth??? just trying to get some clarification. I have been having wierd things going on with my breasts the last few months. Thanks! You all Rock!

Hi there!
I am not exactly sure what they mean by "ridges" but my guess is that the red area is raised, therefore it has a ridge around it. That is kind of what mine was like. When you felt the red area, you could feel a difference in the thickness of the skin, and it felt rougher than the regular skin of the breast.

The orange appearance of my IBC just looked like really defined pores, each pore was like a mini crater, thus giving it a dimpled look. I sure wish I would of taken a picture of my IBC breast before I started treatment. It looked quite a bit different from the bright red inflamed pictures you see online. The color of mine was a purplish pink mottled appearance.

I hope I helped. If you have more questions, don't hesitate to ask. It is usually pretty quiet around here on the weekend, especially with it being Easter weekend, but I am sure some other gals will be around soon to put in their two cents!

Good luck to you!

thanks to all. I know what you mean I really wish there were more pictures of begining stage IBC. I see on ALL of the INTERNET there are the same 4 or 5 pictures floating around. Some of the 'rashes' look like what I have but the swelling and extreme redness is not like mine. I have sonogram on both breasts on thursday so we'll see what is going on. Thanks again!

Hi Brownbird,

I am glad that you are getting your breast checked out this week. Could be lots of other things besides bc, but better safe than sorry.

Please let us know how it goes on Thursday.
