I am becoming more confused, (not because of my skull surgery I hope), how is it possible to have a mix of two different b.c's ? at the same time. I don't know any one like me ? Any one out there ?

Yes it is possible.  Are you talking about 2 different lumps, or one with 2 types in it?

I had one 1.7 cm lump with IDC & DCIS and another lump 1 cm with ILC & LCIS.  Both were hormone positive although the ILC was less so % wise.  Both were also Her2neu negative.

There is little research about it and it's prognosis and or treatment, but I had a mast with chemo and am now on the Arimidex.  Mine was only a stage I with grade 2, and b/c they only consider the larger of the 2 masses in treatment, only the IDC/DCIS was sent for the oncotype recurrence scoring.  That bothered me some at the time.

What info are you looking for on it?

Hi,

Thank you for your response. Mine has been in my bones for 4 years and the last path report has shown it to be a mix of Ductal and Lobular (Bone). Mine began as stage 1, 9 years ago and grade 1. I am still waiting for the final histology, but the bit that was removed from my skull is still showing slow growth for which I am grateful for.

I've had 3 chemo regimes and been through a range of hormone suppression drugs. The confusion lies in what chemo regime works best for Lobular.I've heard it can be very difficult to treat?

Thanks,

It is not all that uncommon to find both IDC and ILC in the same tumor.  My path report said insitu and infiltrating mammary carcinoma with ductal and lobular features.  I have communicated with quite a few women here on the boards with both IDC and ILC which I like to call IDLC.  My oncologist told me having both makes no difference in my treatment or prognosis.

Hi my diagnosis is IDC Stage I in one breast and ILC stage III in the other breast. 4 cycles each DD of A/C and Taxol , bilateral masc.

Total hysterectomy and tamoxifen soon to be changed to an AI.

I'm not sure how common it is, but I'm guessing not very. I know for our profiles on this site you can only enter one type??

Good Luck!

Did I read one time, that distant recurrances were in different areas depending on whether it was IDC or ILC?  It's hard to remember all the info.  No wonder the docs are confused at our questions, with the ever changing info out there!

Strange how they figure it all out.  I'm only stage one, but the % of In situ for the DCIS was 20% of the 1.7in the primary,  and the LCIS  in the 2nd tumor was not mentioned in % b/c it was basically taken out in 12 pieces at the MRI Bx procedure. It had been measured at that time as 1.0 cm through the MRI and pieces removed which are a bit larger than the US guided bx is.  None was left in the breast at the time of the mast a week later.
