ok, a little history....I was first diagnosed with breast cancer at age 30...I had a three old daughter, my mother had died of breast cancer when I was still in college and I was scared as hell when I found I had the same prognosis.  At age 30 I had a mascectomy on one side and then it wasn't too long later that my doctor said we needed to do the other side since it was only logical that the cancer would return and sure enough there was the start of another tumor.  As a result of very aggressive chemo 25 years ago, I'm still here.  The grandmother of twins!

But just to complicate things....3 years ago I contracted the most "white bread"  form of breast cancer because my original doctor had left a little bit of nipple tissue.....So...now after more surgery, chemo, and now on Arimidex I am moving forward.

I have survived for over 25 years with breast cancer.  It has not been easy, and certainly this last bout was very hard to swallow, but i will not succumb to this disease.  I want to be a grandmother to my twin grandchildren and be here for my daughter and husband .  I will do my best to put up with Arimidex and all the other crap the medical world throws my way.

My daughter named her daughter Reagan Hope......Hope was my mother's middle name (who my daughter never knew)  but the reason my daughter chose Hope, was that she hoped someday there will be Hope for all of us that breast cancer is cured.

Amazing, aprillouiser! Congratulations! I do want to add, though, that I hope by "very old survivor," you are referring to the "oldness" of your survival and NOT your age in years Surprised? I'm 55 years old too and consider myself just entering "middle age"!!!! Laughing

mmc...I believe that she means IDC because that is the most commonly occuring form of BC.

That is wonderful that you are a longterm survivor.  Are there other stories out there for longterm survivors with stage 3c breast cancer.
