My sister was just told that she has breast cancer again. the doctors say that this cancer was caused by the radiation therapy that she had for her original breast cancer. She does not have insurance at this time, so she is delaying treatment for a few months. Any ideas on what I should tell her to do?  Is there any way for women who do not have insurance but are not on medicade or something like that to get treatment in a timely manner?

Ok, I liv in No Calif and had no insurance.  I went to our local county clinic, where they diagnosed me.  I applied there and now am going to UC Davis and have FREE treatment for 24 months. As far as I know there is a federal program thru the states called BCCTP (Breast and Cervical Cancer Treatment Program).  It is supposedly in all states, try her local county health dept...my prayers are wth you both.

My mom didn't have insurance but I found a program in Missouri called Show me Health Women that covered her expenses and once her diagnosis came back at cancer mediciad picked up and she will have that as long as she is under treatment. If 10 years from now she chooses to have reconstruction medicaid will pay for that too.  Unfortunately my mom was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer and has it in her liver, lungs, ribs, clavicle and femur so she will be covered for life.  You can call the area cancer centers in your area and they can tell you too of programs like the Missouri Show me Healthy Women programs.

I wish your sister best of luck and pray for the best outcome!
