I am having a skin sparing mastectomy of my right breast with expanders for reconstruction on 5/20. I was diagnosed after routine mammogram on 1/29, subsequent ultrasound biopsy found a small nodule, subsequent mri biopsy found larger spot invasive duct cell - hard to believe I could have something like this without knowing and I feel great. I just had my 50th birthday, and am on my own with two teenage girls aged 14 and 16. I was wondering if you could tell me what it will really be after surgery? When will I feel pretty good? I want to be strong but would feel better having some real life info from some who have gone through this.

Hi njnative,

Well, first of all, you found a very good forum here! So sorry that you had a reason to find this place, but I think you will benefit from everyone's comments, suggestions, etc. Please join us at the "May Surgery" conversation...I will also add you to the list we have of May surgeries. I felt great too before my dx...had no idea. But it is good you found it quickly, and I know your 2 girls will be a great big help to you, during your recovery. I wish you the very best for your surgery and for a quick recovery! There is soooo much to read here, but you will learn a lot, and be more comfortable knowing what to expect. Lots of (((((HUGS))))),  Kathy
