well, had my repeat MRI and mammo yesterday and everything is all clear!!!! The 3 spots that they were monitoring on MRI (one especially) are all gone! The new facility was great, I liked it better than the old one; the radiologist took me into her imaging room and went over both the MRI and the mammo in detail with me--I've never had such one on one attention from a radiologist before--she was awesome. So on one hand, I am elated with the news, but I know it is a short term reprieve. She did say "LCIS--you know that it's not cancer, right?" I didn't want to get into any controversy over it and I totally respected her opinion, so I just mentioned to her that I have family history (mom with ILC).  She then said "then that's a whole different story--that changes everything". She didn't seem too concerned at all when it was just LCIS--basically said yearly mammo, tamox and breast exams. But she said when the breast is dense and difficult to image by mammo (and there are varying degrees of density) or when you have family or personal history of bc, then MRI is an important tool to use. But she suggested that I could go back to every 12 months instead of every 6 months imaging, so we'll see what the oncologist says next time I see him. All  in all, it was a good visit and it helped put my mind more at ease.

Well congratulations Anne and welcome to the once a year monitoring crowd.  My doctor just recommended that I see him again in six months and then have both MRI and mammos in a year.  It is nice not to have the constant appointments and repeated mammos, but I will admit a twinge of anxiety sneaking in every once in awhile.  Still, I like this schedule the best!  relax and enjoy!
