what's the deal, do they think that just because we don't have breast that we don't want to continue being sexy. Every bra I get is dull and beige and ugly. I am looking for a distributor that has sexy lingerie like victoria secret so that I can sell in my new shop I am opening. I'm opening a lingerie and spa for women of breast cancer. It will be a place to come to when you want to feel pretty, with water falls, and massage chairs and facials(the works). But I want to be able to sale the sets with nice teddys and everything a woman need to feel good. I want to sale a lighter prosthetic so that when a woman buys a sexy night gown it won't be to heavy or when she buys a sexy camisole it will fit right. Do you all have any ideas for me. I went to buy a lingerie and I thought I would be romantic and the teddy was so ridiculous that I took it off and never wore it again.

Hi, Peaches.

This comes up quite a bit in the "Moving Beyond" thread. So to answer your question, yes I think that the folks who make this stuff assume that since we've lost a breast or two (or three, in my case, lol), we have no need for things sexy anymore. Somebody started a thread about perhaps doing a calendar of women in sexy Victoria's Secret stuff just to kind of put this myth to bed and the replies about how VS would really want no part of that (think of how it might affect their marketing image) were shocking - because they probably wouldn't. That's the reality in corporate America: the bottom line is everything...

There are a few companies that make some really nice stuff for women with prosthesis and companies that will sew pockets for forms into existing bras, cami tops and teddys. Let me dig them up and get back to you...

And congrats on the spa! It is such a wonderful - and sorely needed - idea!

Proud to fight like a girl (don't let the ponytails fool you)!

Hi Peaches,

This has been a "sore spot" with me for a long time.  I love to wear matching panties and bras.

When I went for my Mastectomy bras this year, I was so surprised as they had bras in colors--I got a pretty burgundy one, a pink one and a blue one and an aqua one.  Just so happened, I had colors of panties so I could match them.  I guess someone is thinking about it, but for 6 years--Yep, its been white, beige or black and that depends what size you are if you could get it in black.  Size 38DD was hard to come by.  I wish someone would make an all in one girdle like from years a go--that was a good idea (Felicia) never thought to have pockets sewn in the ones I have.  Sitting prosthesis in them, is just not secure enough for me.

Best to you and your new Spa--sounds like a "nice place" to be able to go, and not have to feel out of place!!!
