Palpable findings not seen on mammogram or US?

Hi, all! I'm 38 with a family history of hormonal cancers and recently had diagnostic mammogram and US due to a palpable lump on my R side. When they they did the mammogram and ultrasound they found a a surprise mass on the L side (rated bi-rads 3 due to internal vascularity and being hypoechoic), but nothing on the R despite the tech feeling 3 different palpable lumps. Does this happen often?

The report management section says,

* Close follow-up for the palpable findings in the right breast.

* Six-month follow-up left breast ultrasound

Note: This imaging appearance should not preclude further investigation if clinical findings are suspicious."

Should I request a breast MRI since they couldn't see what the lumps on the R side were? I feel like I went in hopeful to get answers and left with more questions and concerns. My GP hasn't spoken to me about the results and there aren't any openings with her until the end of the month.

Thanks in advance. 🙂
