Pinktober Revolution

Options

We support the efforts to bring awareness to breast cancer during the month of October, but we are frustrated by Pinking and Pinkwashing. Please, join us as we seek to improve knowledge re: breast cancer.

Vision Statement:To bring full awareness of the reality of breast cancer to the general public; the surgeries, the treatments and the horror that there is NO cure. To ensure that proceeds donated to the cause are publically noted and distributed in an appropriate manner for the community in which the funds were raised. To keep corporations accountable for the use of pink products and the medical field driven to move the cure closer to the finish line.

"Look at the bright side..... [insert any stupid comment made here] ...."

"Survivorship is much tougher than dying!" or "Survivorship sucks when everyone is happy that you are alive but no one cares about your daily struggles with pain and effects of treatment years after you should be 'fine'"

etc...... I have to get on the road to a class, but boy, is my brain churning on this one!

    R - radiation, raw, relapse

    E - emotionally exhausted, excision

A - awful, adverse effects, anemia, aspirate, assinine doctors

S - struggles, side effects, swollen. scars, scared, sleepless nights, surgery

T - taste alteration, tired, treatments, tumor

    C - chemotherapy, chemicals

    A- appointments, appointments, appointments

N - neoropathy, nausea, needles, nervous, new normal, neulasta, nadir

C - crying, cranky, carcinoma, complication, core needle biopsy

    E -encapsulated, excision, extravasation

    R - relapse, rough, recurrence

    MY pain doesn't exist?

Let me give you an example.

Barbe gets my vote. PatMom is a close second. No one gives a rat's a** what color bra you announce you wear on Facebook. Cancer sucks comes to mind, but that's a given. Also, I don't want to hear your story about someone you know that died from BC when they least expected it, but thanks anyway!

Not a slogan, but I long for the day when we can PREVENT cancer, not just cure it.

We'd have that now if 99% of men were getting cancer and 1% of women.

I had to laugh at "the good kind of cancer". When I got my diagnosis the doctor called me at home and said, "you do have cancer, but not the bad kind."

    Enjoying this thread!

Kate WOW. This one line could be a book. Hope you don't mind if I add to it.

The only thing that cancer leaves behind is the scars

                              To our bodies

             To our souls

                                                     To our lives

         To our relationships

                                    To everything we hold precious
