hi all... last Sunday I ran a 5K and was SUPER busy all day. Monday I ran another 5K then went to work. Monday afternoon I noticed achiness in the middle on my back. Seems to be on both sides of my spine but not on the spine itself. It’s achy up and down my back but never goes to my very low back or my upper back. It’s worse with standing and activity and feels better as I rest. There are no spots of tenderness when I press on my back. It feels like muscle aching but I’m second guessing myself. I’ve been running for years and have never experienced this after running so I don’t THINK that’s the cause. Naturally, I’m freaking myself out thinking it’s bone mets to the spine. This has been going on for 5 days now without getting better. I’m going to give my oncologist a call. But until I hear back, I’m curious to what you all think? Something to be concerned about

If it seems muscular, it most likely is. I'd wait 2 weeks and if it does not resolve, then contact your MO. Hoping it resolves.

sorry for not responding earlier, but I wanted to make sure I had something to tell you. I still have the back pain but it’s not as severe. After 2 weeks it finally started calming down. After the original symptoms started calming down I started noticing some numbness and tingling directly to the side of my spine on the left. I ended up going to urgent care who took xrays. They came back fine. I called my oncologist who ordered a bone scan. That came back fine. At this point my oncologist told me it was likely just an injury, which I had suspected and had good reason to believe. She referred me back to my primary care doctor. Later she called me back and told me that she would save me a trip to my primary doctor and ordered an MRI to find out if I had hurt a disc in my back. She thinks this is a possibility due to the numbness and tingling I get intermittently. Regardless, it’s likely just an injury that’s taking a while to heal.

I hope your back is feeling better and that your anxiety isn’t through the roof, like mine was.
