I just rounded the 3 week mark post-left mastectomy. I am right handed so I have had a lot of use on this side while recovering. I noticed a few days ago the right was a bit tender, especially after taking some longer walks, and assumed just overuse or overall hormonal tenderness. Fast forward to this morning and when I reached over my head to grab something, I felt a twinge. I started to feel the breast and to my horror felt a lump about 2cm in size in the lower left quadrant. It is about 2.5 cm from my nipple.
I have a hx of issues on this side with cysts and call-backs USNs post mastectomy. 1 year to the day before the Dx on my left, in 2018, I had a large lump later Dx via USN as benign cysts. No irregular or new findings showed on the right with my 2019 bilateral mammogram. They did not, USN to the right this time. It feels JUST like the tumor on the left. It is hard, flat and rounded. For those in Michigan, it feels like a small Petoskey stone. It is also tender.
Of course it's the weekend, and of course coronavirus has all "non-essential" clinic visits on hold here in Michigan. I have my alarm set to call the MO when their office opens tomorrow morning. In the meantime, my anxiety level just shot through the roof.
I am so hoping it is a cyst again but can't help second guessing my decision to go with uni vs bi-lateral mastectomy.
Anyone else been through this?
