I was diagnosed with HER2 positive breast cancer in 2015. Had a lumpectomy with insufficient margins, so I had a second surgery. I then had chemo (TCH), followed by radiation. I have been taking Letrozole (femara). Nearly five years later, I find a lump on the same breast and had mammogram, ultrasound and then a biopsy. I received preliminary results today confirming the cancer but not the other pathology. Has anyone had a HER2 negative recurrence after an initial HER2 positive cancer? I'm really hoping this time won't be HER2 positive. Thanks for everyone's support here.

My HER2 did not change, but my PR did, which is more common. Sorry you are dealing with a recurrence.

I was ER/PR+ and Her2+ with my first breast cancer 12 yrs ago. I recently was told I had breast cancer back in the same breast however it is not Her2+ this time after the core biopsy. Just ER/PR+. Just waiting to consult with the breast surgeon and go from there. Good luck to you.

Yes! IDC in 2018, triple positive. My new primary is +/-/-. So, yay, no Her2+.
