I finished radiation treatment 1 1/2 yrs ago.  My periods have always been late, but my last periods was almost nil.  Spotting. It freaked me out...thought I was pregnant...waiting....

Has anyone experiences this with post DCIS treatment? Or is this just part of perimenopause, I am 44.  HELP!

Are you taking Tamoxifen?  I think that affects periods in some women.

I had radiatoin around the same time you did.  After that, I went off the Pill, got a copper IUD and started Tamoxifen, so a lot of changes all around the same time.  Hard for me to say which affected my period, but mine are actually heavier but shorter than they were before.  (I think the heavier periods come with the copper IUD and being off the pill; maybe they would be lighter with just the Tamoxifen.)  It probably varies from person to person.

Might be worth an appointment with your gynocologist just to get some reassurance (or in the unlikely event there is an issue to get on top of it).  Sorry I can't be more helpful, hopefully some others have more useful insight for you.

In the meantime, hang in there and try not to worry too much!

I took Tamoxifen for about 3 months.  Reacted very badly.  Dr. took me off and will continue to watch.  I meant previosly my periods have always been LIGHT...not late.  Oops!  Now after my last "lite period"...this cycles... I have painful left ovary (I only have one)...and light greenish mucusy discharge. I am not officially freaked out---I am 44.  The sharp left ovary pain is quite disconcerting.  I will see doc next week.

Could this be by any chance signs of perimenopause?

Excuse my typing.  I am NOW officially freaked out.  This is apparent by my lack of focus in typing. Instead of my regular light period, it is as described.  Sorry.

Help!  I know it's been a while, but....After a year of uncertainty finally led to endometrial biopsies.  Turns out I had polyp growths and a thickening of the uterus lining.  After polypectomy all went back to "normal".  June of 2012 was my last period and I began to have severe nausea, back pain (as in back labor pain) and a painful left ovarian. I only have one ovary. Doc decided to repeat tests from 2011. FSH and anti-mellurien?.  Levels in FSH still low, which shows not menopausal. (45y.o) anti-melllurien show levels of follicular activity (how many eggs my ovaries produce) That was low, but is it accurate to say I am low in producing eggs in that test.  Did they take into consideration that I only have one ovary?

Anyway, two months with no period....pain and nausea still bad.  Feels like I am pregnant.  PG test negative, though. Could this be the beginning of peri-menopause or do I look into this further with my GYN? I am supposed to play the waiting game, but something doesn't feel right.

HELP

In addition to the above post, I have a lot of discharge...and I mean daily. Thick & whitish.  Is this normal?

Hi - I will be 44 this fall but have not had these symptoms, hopefully someone with more experience in this will be along soon to provide some support/suggestions...

In the meantime I can say that from discussions with my friends and co-workers also our age, the only thing that seems to be consistent/normal about periods in women in their 40's is that there is no consistency/normalcy!!

Having said that, however, if you are feeling this concerned you really should push for some answers from your GYN.  And I do mean push...be your own best advocate for your own health.  Hopefully some test results will be able to bring you some peace of mind and maybe help with some of your uncomfortable symptoms.

Hugs and keep us posted with any answers you get!
