Only connected risk I am aware of is with Lynch syndrome or a couple of other genetic syndromes- that was specifically what genetics wanted to investigate in my family.

I am on the three year colonoscopy plan due to a history of polyps. After my BC diagnosis and treatment last year I asked my gastroenterologist if I should have a colonoscopy then instead of waiting for the next due date (this fall) and he said No need to move it up. Not really looking forward to it but will be glad to have the information.

When I was diagnosed I was told that I was at higher risk for colon cancer and melanoma. Genetic testing confirmed that I had a mutation that increases that risk, but my initial understanding is that breast, colon, and melanoma can be related. I was also told that a family history of early onset prostate cancer increases risk for breast cancer in the family without a known genetic marker present. So every five years for me!
