This is the only source I can find...by searching the scientific name. You might have to make a call to India to get pricing but it seems that you can purchase via a western union transfer... I was looking for a source for a friends family member and saw your post during my search

...had to share what I found. Can't hurt to try it right?

Hey my mom has also been diagnosed with metastatic breast carcinoma ie ER, PgR and TTF 1 immunonegative and C erb B 2 is negative. We too are hoping that this could be a good form of alternate treatment. Have done some research and were made to understand that Fergonia cretica and Fergonia arabica are synonymous and the Hindi or Sanskrit word commonly used to describe is dhanvyas.

We have located the leaf form of it at a reliable source in Mumbai , India . The address is Hamidiya Dawakhana, 416 Pydhony, Opp Police station, Mumbai 400003.

There is also a source in karnal , Haryana where you can get the processed form of this product. They charge INR 3700 for a half kilo packet of this powder which is supposed to last for about 2 months.

Address is VHCA herbals, Vaidya Hukum Chand Ayurved Dhamasya, GT Road, Opp Cold Store , near Honey Garden Banquet Hall, Ayurved Dham Road, Gahrauda 132114, karnal , Haryana. Phone no + 91 8683800801, +91 9896217248

The recipe involves putting 25 gm of leaves or 3 tsp powder in 3 cups of water and then boiling it to make 2 cups of water and then straining and drinking on empty stomach.

    Hi again, Simone,

I was wondering whether you found a source for seeds.  I'd be interested in growing it out in Oregon which has an arid, drier eastern part.  I'm sure there would be Dept of Agriculture forms to fill out for that and strict controls to be followed, but I'm thinking that the places it grows are similar to locations in my state (Oregon).  So, I'm interested in finding seeds for it, as well.

    Thanks

I sent 118.74 (CAN) to the site mentioned above on Aug. 29th. To date, I have not received anything. Either, it's very slow (which could be the case from Mumbai), or he'll just keep my money and send nothing, or it will be confiscated at the border. After speaking to a few people, packages can take as long as 6 weeks from that destination. I guess I'll know for sure mid October if the site's legit or not. Have not rec'd any further communication from this company regarding my purchase....leaning towards never getting it.

On a positive note, there are quite a few health food stores that I called who are working on importing it. One is keeping in touch.....she says it might take a while, but she will get it, eventually. I think at this point, the best thing you can do is "call" anyone you can think of and "demand" they get it. If enough people create a stink, it will likely get to North America quicker. I make a few calls each week.

In researching the plant, F. cretica, there appears to be a variant native to the US, same family, known as F. californica also known as F. laevis that grows in the southwest. www.calflora.org has loads of info on this plant, its observed locations, who spotted what, when, where, etc.  It's also known as California fagonbush.  Seems like most sitings are around the mountains near Palm Desert.

In other part, I, too, have inquired of the first party mentioned by Simone.  No answer yet.  I also inquired of Ayurvedic Consultants, and Indian firm.  Their price on a pound of F. cretica bark (they didn't carry the leaves) was $680 (which I declined).  My inquiry of researcher Helen Griffiths as to what parts of the plant were used in their recently published study referenced in this discussion is also unanswered at the moment.

    Hi All:

we are a tea company licenced in Canada under Zippytea and we have found this plant Fagonia Cretica in Cholistan near Bahawalpur in Punjab, Pakistan and is on the way to Toronto Canada as i write this reply.

it was called Kandari Booti (Plant with thorns) in local language. but only problem is, it comes out after rain, chances are next to none for rain in desert (cholistan).

the only thing i am confuses is how to get aqueous extract of Fagonia cretica.

if any one knows how to get extract, please let us know. after some initial investigations, we will launch its supply to retail.

    Regards,

    Paul Bhushan.

Hello Paul. I'm only speaking for myself here, but I would be just as interested in the plant being used as tea as I would be in an extract, even more so, actually, as that is how it is being used by the women of Pakistan.  I have spoken to several retailers; all are unable to import the plant to Canada at this point in time. If you have found a way, I'm happy to hear it and thank you for doing so. I'll be checking your website periodically for this product. That being said, I would have to check with a local botanist and chemist to ensure that the product is indeed fagonia cretica upon purchase. If it isn't, I will indeed do my best to shut it down. Not my first rodeo with a product being touted as something it is not. If it is genuine, I thank you and look forward to it's sale.

    Hi,

The study ( http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0040152#s4 ) stated, under "Methods and Materials","Fagonia cretica extract preparation and cell treatment":

"An aqueous extract was prepared by soaking dried plant material (20g) in 500ml d.H2O at 70°C for 5 hours with constant agitation. The extract was filtered with Fisherbrand filter paper (Fisher Scientific, FB59020, UK) to remove solids before being subjected to liquid-liquid partition with 3 times equal volumes of hexane. The aqueous phase was dried under vacuum and stored at 4°C...."

I'm currently corresponding with a concern at greetherbalremedies@gmail.com, who, when I inquired about bark of F. cretica, said that they had extract.  I'm trying to ascertain whether their extract is from bark or leaves.

I read in another entry from you that you're expecting an importation of F. cretica and will be making same available publicly in the future.  Thanks in advance for your efforts.  I look forward to your acquisition and the future availability of this plant.  I'd like to grow it in the desert regions of western Oregon in the US.

    Hi,

I've been checking on import regs and have found out that the powdered form doesn't require an agricultural permit.  Here's the reply from USDA when I asked what I needed to do to import seeds and plant material:

"Here is some information for you. Please apply for the PPQ 587 application to receive an import permit for then dried leaves. Please also check with Customs and Border Protection, as every situation is different and they make the final decision as to whether or not something can come into the country. Powdered items do not require a permit because they are considered processed products.

    Phytosanitary Certificate:
The below link can help you obtain a Phytosanitary certificate. Type the name of the country in which the product is coming from and press go.

How to apply for a permit:
Please have a United States Resident/Legal alien who has a valid United States address fill out the application (attached, and fax it back to us, fax number on form). They can also fill these out on-line through the internet program e-Permits which we recommend (process attached, Note: the applicant must physically be in the United States for the start of the process). If it is frozen please indicate this on the application.

    Customs:
Please declare all agricultural items on your Customs Declaration form and verbally to Customs. A Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection Agricultural Specialist officer will inspect the item and make the final determination as to if it is allowed into the United States. For more information concerning the Customs declaration process please contact them at (877) 227-5511 or view their website at www.cbp.gov and go to "ports" which is at the very bottom of the screen. Just a quick update:

I just found out by talking to Local people in remote area of Pakistan (Mandi Yazman) that this Fagonia Cretica tea is not prepared as we prepare regular tea by heating up water. They soak it overnight in water and drink residual water in morning with empty stomach. Some people do recmond to soak dried appricotes with this herbal tea.

I am not claiming about the results but trying my best to get this tea in Canada very soon. Suggested name is Zippy Herbal Tea (Fagonia Cretica).

    That's good to know, ZippyTea.

The people whose product in the form of F. cretica bark I declined at $680 US, VHCA Herbals, wrote back with the following further information.  I asked some questions and was sent answers promptly.  I've included their responses but I apologize for their length.:

    Dear Gail Campbell,

As per your Queries, we are hereby forwarding you all the details -

    1. Do you carry simply the dried leaves, in bulk, or in prepared tea? Or is the product you carry comprised of both leaves and flowers for tea-making purposes?

We have Leaves and Flowers of F. cretica available with us and the Patients of Breast Cancer have been asking for a combination of both, so we have been providing the patients a powder of both Leaf and Flower. The Patients are then taking this powder as a Tea.
    2. Can you tell me please the quantities and prices of such items of F. cretica that you carry (exclusive of shipping)?

For a single Patient, 300 Gms of Dosage is recommended every Month, so it becomes 10 Gms of Dosage for a day. We have been providing the Medicine worth 6 Months so the overall weight of the Parcel becomes around 2 Kgs.

Price of 6 Month of Medicine (prepared from a combination of Tea and Flower which can then be taken as an aqueous extract) - US Dollars 576.00

Transport Charges through DHL + Export Tax + Custom Duty - US Dollars 105.00
(Please do note here that as per DHL Norms, the above prices of Transport / Taxes / Custom Duty) shall remain the same if the overall weight of the Parcel is less than 5 Kgs. So any patient whose ordering for the Medicine in a weight less than 5 Kgs shall have to pay the charges as USD 105.00)

    Net Price - US Dollars 576.00 + US Dollars 105.00 = US Dollars 680.00
    3. In the case of the shipment you've made to Fremont, California, which is also on the US west coast, I'm thinking shipping charges would be approximately the same. Could you quote me the approximate shipping charges involved if I were to purchase (a) 1 lb and (5) lbs of product?

1 Lb = 0.45 Kg and it shall be equal to around 45 days of Medicine
3 Lb = 1.3 Kg and it shall be equal to around 4 months of Medicine

As mentioned earlier, the Shipping Charges + Export Tax + Custom Duty shall be the same for any parcel dispatched anywhere in the world and it shall be equal to US Dollars 105.00
As we are a Bulk supplier of Herbs across the world and also due to heavy custom duty imposed on the export of Herbs by Indian Income Tax Department, DHL have provided us a uniform slab of price so that we are able to provide our patients across all the world the medicines in a easy tax bracket.

The Medicine in powdered form or in raw dried form can be easily made available at any place across the world within a time span of 3 to 4 working days. And as we have been recommending a dosage of 6 months of Medicine, so it becomes equal to 2 Kg / 4.5 Lb. If the total weight of the parcel is less then 5 Kg / 11 Lb, the shipping charge shall remain equal to US Dollar 105.00 irrespective of the distance of country from India.

I have tried our best to answer all your queries in full depth, and please dont hesitate in sharing / discussing any query of yours related to the Medicine.

We can also provide you with the Email IDs of the Patient residing in UK or elsewhere and who are currently taking this Medicine for curing their Breast Cancer so that you can also share their experiences first hand.

We ourselves are also very much surprised, the Medicine has started its action within 24 hours of the intake and the very first sign which patients are telling - The Pain . As per their feedback, every patient is saying, the Pain was absolutely gone within a time span of 48 to 72 hours and after an intake of 3 weeks, the size of tumor has shrunk to about 40 %.

May GOD bless you and your family with best of Health n Happiness always

The response provided pictures of a ground matter, purportedly dried leaves and flowers at the same price as bark for a 6 month supply, including instructions on use.  In looking at the pictures, which don't copy, the matter doesn't look like my concept of what a grind of dried flowers and leaves would look like. Dr. Nakra's examples of importers of his tea grind of F. cretica also did not copy.  Be that as it may, here is what was written to me:

Many, maybe we will. Anyone willing to go first and report back? I'm going to go ahead w/ the Artemisinin since its more readily available and is in clinical trials, but definately going for this next. Maybe it will be easier to come by soon. Really excited to hear there might be hope. Sometimes these things sound too good to be true.

Dear Simone, Gracie, and other Fagonia cretica searchers,

I may have found a reputable and available source via the search engine Alibaba.  I've been emailing a gentleman by the name of Imran Saeed who represents a company named REHAN at www.rehanherbalmedicine.com.  They are going into production to make F. cretica extract shortly.  In a few days, the extract, in 800 ml bottles @ $25, will be listed up on their website.

Mr. Saeed replied, in response to my question about what part of the plant they make their extract from, "We use leaves flower and little part of bark."  In response to my question as to how they make their extract, he wrote, "We get 1 kgs liquied (sic)extract from 10 kgs raw material."  As to shipping costs, he also stated, "Prices included shipping cost."

At the bottom of their website are links to two US distributors, both east coast, but the product will be coming from Pakistan directly.

Mr. Saeed writes that the "Minimum order is US $ 100."

"Send us money through western union money transfer or any other exchange company on following address.
    IMRAN SAEED

    0092-321-8408799

You can also send payment by PAYPAL on following email.

    homeopathyusa@gmail.com"

Mr. Saeed asserts that there is no USDA import permit needed for this product.

I plan to place an order shortly.

And, as the study points out, the beneficial effect of F. cretica documented may differ for Asian and Caucasian breast cancer survivors.

I just received a six month supply of faconia cretica from Dr. Amit Nakra from Karnal, India. I think I paid a whole lot more that you all did--which can't make me feel good.   On the other hand, I feel confident that I have a legitimate product from a legitimate doctor so that helps. I just started taking it 2 days ago. Can anybody share their experiences with buying it and any changes in cancer?

    Here is his information:

    Hello, Mr. Bhushan,

The original study describes how they got an extract from the plant.
