Telltale signs of snake oil: claims that the NCI (or, insert name of “establishment” medical authority or entity here) “knows” about the miracle substance in question and is either “lying,” “hiding,” “suppressing” or “falsifying” supposed proof of its effectiveness; warnings that using conventional allopathic treatments such as chemo or endocrine therapy will cancel its effectiveness; and testimonials for it are found on the same page (or even same paragraph) as wacko claims that antiperspirants or bras cause breast cancer. I’ve checked and just about every site that extols Protocel has some or all of that telltale language.

Look, Protocel (proper spelling) may contain antioxidants, and during certain phases of treatment (or in someone without cancer) antioxidants might be beneficial (though that’s not proven) in preventing future cell mutations. But once you have cancer it isn’t the new mutations that are the concern, but rather the proliferation of residual tumor cells via the process of mitosis (cell division). Antioxidants don’t have any inhibitory effect on the latter. And when the whole point of local & systemic therapy is to DESTROY residual tumor cells--cells that by their very nature will continue to divide unless killed, antioxidants are precisely what you shouldn’t take while undergoing chemo or radiation. Antioxidants mop up free radicals, but free radicals are necessary for the destruction of tumor cells by radiation (local therapy); and also for cytotoxic chemicals (systemic therapy such as chemo) to kill fast-growing cells, e.g., tumor cells, while they’re in the process of dividing. Mop up the free radicals during treatment and you will be sabotaging your radiation and chemo!!! Wait till you’re done with active therapy before you begin or resume taking antioxidants.

Many adherents of alternative therapies will warn that their miracle cures won’t work if you also take conventional local and systemic therapies, and that you therefore must choose either allopathic or alternative (and they urge you choose the latter). Don’t do it. At best you’re flushing money down the toilet; at worst you’re letting cancer win.

Hi Cathy. Here's the link about the member who has used it successfully. Also, at the very bottom of her posts is her webpage that gives more details. I know that it's been discussed more than once, so it might be worthwhile to do a search on her member name to find them all.

The op is asking a question. IMO, answering it is not hijacking. As for Protocel (Cantron is another name), it is often sold through multi level marketing. Huge turnoff for me. Kat has been using it for a while and has had success. Happy for her, no real evidence of efficacy besides anecdotes

Cathytoo, in so far as protocel has an active ingredient, that ingredient is a form of cyanide (sometimes called Amygdalin or "vitamin" B17). The symptoms described by the protocel sales people as symptoms of "lysing" (supposedly the cancer cells dying) are very similar to the symptoms of non-fatal cyanide poisoning.

Hi All.

I was doing some searching on Protocel and I found this very old thread, and despite it's from 2015, I can't help but comment to clear up a few Protocel Misconceptions lest someone else does a search as well and happens on wrong information.

Hopefully, by now (2018) most understand that Protocel is not sold through multi-level marketing. Protocel is manufactured in the USA and is sold through authorized distributors who also are Doctors of Naturopath. Some run a 'brick and mortar' business just like any other shop keeper in America, making an honest living with their God given talents and compassionate demeanor.

The marketing that is done outside of those walls is through word of mouth of God fearing people like myself who have been blessed with the miracle of this cure and want to share it with anyone who is interested. I pay full price for my product, I pay my own hosting fees and I spend my own personal time writing and keeping up my website. No one pays me a salary, and the information on my website is free to everyone. The rewards I will receive for my efforts are eternal life and for me personally, I believe that is a far better trade off! I am blessed beyond all measure, and that is why I do this.

Protocel does not have any ingredient that is even remotely close to Cyanide, Amygdalin, Vitamin B17 or natural Apricot seeds. Lysing is a common universal term used in both the conventional and alternative arenas to describe the process of killing cancer and the resulting debris that moves through the lymph system to exit the body. Lysing is not unique to Protocel.

I hope that helps!
Have a great day everyone!

As we said in some other threads you started about this commercial product, it is great that you are doing well.

However, the plain fact is, this product has never been shown effective against any of the many conditions it claims to cure.

There are only anecdotes.

Also, God has NO relationship whatever with this or any other commercially marketed products.

See chisandy's excellent post.

Again all best wishes of continued good health.

You are a relatively new member Oxygen from July of 2018 and your posts are very advanced medically. An Anesthesiologist perhaps?

I see where you are guiding ladies to Prolia? Perjeta? How to get their doctors to certify them for an MRI with dense busy breasts? I also am reading the medical advice you're giving to many right down to how much fiber they should be consuming. In a little over 8 weeks you have made 136 of these kinds of posts but I have yet to find where you describe your own personal journey with breast cancer. I also noticed you don't have a signature file with your treatment profile where folks can learn from you and what you did for your disease.

My history is well documented but since it's not on my current signature file, so here it is again, in case you've missed it:

2009: ER+ PR+ Her2- Bilat MX with 3 sentinel nodes 2010 one node had micromets, so back in for a strip down of 19 nodes from my right axilla. Tissue Expander Reconstruction with exchange surgery to silicone implants 6 months later. 3D nipple tattoos. Uneventful recovery Tamoxifen faithfully x 1.5 years. 2012: Recurrence 2 years later. Multiple ER+ PR+ Her2- lesions on my incision lines, chest wall, hylar node, cutaneous regions and deep muscle tissue. 3 doses of Taxol with progression. Protocel March 2012: Ned: August 2012.

I love BCO, I've been a member since 2009 and It was a big help to me back in the early days...I have even donated to this group...But this is not right for randomly new people to shut down a topic that you know very little about. There are women who are interested and in alternative treatments...and it's perfectly okay that you are not.

I hope everyone has a blessed day.

The idea is not to shut down topics nor views pro or con within reason.

Clinical trials are so important in assessing treatment effectiveness because the scientific method helps make up for our very human tendency to see what we wish to see, even when it is not there. It is also very human to fall for the post hoc fallacy: B happened after A, therefore we conclude that A caused B. ALL of us do this some of the time.

Nonetheless, anyone is free to consult Dr Google and take over the counter remedies.

(Not that it is too relevant, but no, I'm not an MD, never advised on grams of fiber. I hate all meds, hate chemo, it was scary, but it saved my life and those of many friends :) whose lives we get to continue to celebrate)

Kat - you are a threat. Those wanting to silence you will not stop. Too much to lose. I always found the more somebody told me “no”, the more suspicious I become. So instead of scaring me off, it only makes me more interested.

I read on your blog, some reference to cannibis. Googling cannibis and cancer it seems some believe that weed can cure cancer, and in some cases it has according to the survivors. They are still alive just like you are so dismissing their claims seems closed minded. Do I think they found the cure? No, but something happened for them. Something happened for you as well.

A few months ago, when I received my bad news, a close friend with a mom and grandmother with bc, told me something interesting. Her grandmother years ago when diagnosed with bc, briefly started conventional treatment, only to stop. She was about my age at that time and felt the treatment was not worth the agony. So she expected to die, but that didn’t happen for 20 plus years. That put her into her 80s.

I read the other day that approximately 30 percent of early stage breast cancer patients, have a reoccurrence. We know that most, if not all, had surgery and most likely began conventional treatment. Many on this board fall into that category. None of us can know who that 30 percent will be, nor why they did not respond to treatment. So the choice is to double down or look at other alternatives as Kat did.

What is bad about attacking you, is that it will scare off others just wanting to discuss other options. Most people hate confrontation. Kat, you seem very secure in your belief system. Additionally as evidenced above, bringing religion into the healing process really causes a quick negative reaction by many. I am not an organized religious person. However, I do not feel threatened by those that praise God for intervention.

What is the point to this alternative forum? Posters should feel safe to relate journey. Wishing somebody well, while bashing them, is disingenuous.

Hey thanks redgirl! It's good to have someone on my side! :) I will tone it down on the religious aspect...I just know myself that I couldn't get through this maze without a map! The Gospel is the way! (Sorry, last time ;)

Alternative therapy will never have the stamp of approval, not here and not anywhere (I suspect) where conventional medicine has the majority of the website content. We have one small little slice of BCO called the Alternative section and I believe that it fascinates everyone. I think that is what the big pull is. It's like a train wreck that they can't take their eyes of it...except when the train isn't wrecking and no one is getting hurt...and maybe that's why they feel they need weigh in. Why isn't this train wrecking? This can't possibly be so! Could it?

I agree with you Oxygen in regards to Clinical trials. As a matter of fact, that's exactly what I did when I originally took Protocel. If the Oncologist was planning on introducing a new chemotherapy treatment every 3 months for me, scan after scan, quarter after quarter, why couldn't Protocel take a turn in the rotation? I figured it had an equal opportunity chance of working as any conventional experimental trial would…and it deserved the respect to have the same time frame to work in. My 'un-clinical' trial was wildly successful for me and I responded quickly and effectively. Any Oncologist should look at that as a total win...and they do. It's clear you haven't read my website, so I encourage you to do so.

I've grown thicker skin but I certainly didn't always have it! Back in 2012, I requested that Mod's lock my original thread my feelings were so hurt. But in doing that, they preserved my initial story and gave me the idea to springboard off of here to develop the website where I've had close to a million visitors! Everything you do prepares you for the next thing you get to do!

Have a great day everyone!
