I have had aches, arthritic feeling pain and have recently been experiencing neuropathy in both arms and hands. I started taking 9 mg CBD oil twice a day and have been using CBD oil on hands/arms and knee pain. Honestly I dont feel any different. I was thinking of buying the higher dose of CBD oil but it is so expensive I wanted to see if anyone else gets any relief from side effects since they have taken CBD. If you are having success can you please tell me what dosage and brand CBD you are taking?

Thanks so much.

I should add that if you ingest a CBD:THC product in a 1:1 or 2:1 formula, you will probably feel the psychoactive component of the THC, ie. you will get high. However, formulations with a higher CBD content, for instance 18:1, will not have much if any psychoactive effect. I have a very high tolerance, so higher levels of THC don’t bother me, but if you are less experienced do take this into consideration.

Hi, all,

I’ve been using 1 ml of Charlotte’s Web extra strength daily for about a month. No noticeable change in pain, but it’s definitely helped my mood. I’ve noticed and so have my family and friends. A psychologist, while very clearly not prescribing, told me to ask my pcp, who said it was fine to try. I’m staying on it for this reason. If I read the bottle correctly, 1 ml has 28 mcg of CBD. I’d love to try a higher dose, but it costs a lot

I read online about using CBD for insomnia and pain. I tried it for the first time yesterday. The retailer told me to use 1 ml of the 1000 mg strength tincture. It has had the opposite effect from helping me to sleep. I've been up all night. I feel a bit wired with fast heart rate and headache. I took my BP and it and the heart rate were okay. Did anyone have this effect? Did I take it incorrectly? I've got chronic insomnia and was hoping this would work especially now with the added stress of chemo. The oil was not cheap but I think I'm not taking it again.

Hi Kamboka: There could be a couple of reasons why you had the reaction you did. First, your initial dose may have been too high. Oftentimes with OTC drugs, if you take too high a dose, your reaction will be the opposite of the intended effect. Start with 1/3 of a dropper and increase amount each night until you find your sweet spot (best dose for you).

Secondly, if using CBD in a glycerine base, make sure glycerine is completely in solution and hasn't precipitated out. If it has, then need to lightly warm in water bath and swirl into solution.

Also, before drawing up your dose, always make sure to swirl bottle well, or shake, to make sure CBD is well mixed. Then you have better chance of getting your therapeutic dose.

Good luck!

hi komboka- I had the exact same reaction from the CBD oil as did my friend who also took it. I ended up having a panic attack from it and wasn’t happy about that.

I did find out later when I consulted with a medical marijuana dispensary pharmacist that I had definitely overdosed and taken way too much.

However, I am prone to anxiety and so I use at night only a higher indica THC and lower CBD combo. Usually 8:1 THC to CBD oil. I do not feel anxiety from it and I pass out pretty quickly after a couple doses from a vaporizer pen.

Murfy and ichangedMyName,

Thank you for those comments. I think you are correct that I might have taken too much and had an opposite reaction. It was scary for a moment thinking that something bad had happened. I will try it again when I get another weekend when I'm feel well. I think it's in glycerin so I'll make sure to swirl and warm.

How long did it take before you had some relief from insomnia with the CBD oil? I am prone to stop things if I don't see immediate effects. (Bad habit).

I wished that melantonin would work for me. I've tried it along with other natural remedies so many times, without success. I have chronic insomnia that is just made worse with the stress of this diagnosis.

When I get up enough nerve again, I'll try the reduced dose of CBD. I have a script for Ambien but I try not to use them much and even then I only get about 3-4 hours of uninterrupted sleep. I don't know what it would feel like to have 6-8 straight hours!
