I took pain pills around the clock for about 3 days - then I used my muscle relaxers as my chest was tight from the tissue expanders. Why no pain meds?

But like I said I don’t know how long I can do this! It’s been 4 days! Some days are good and some are really bad! Tonight is a really bad night!!

Have you tried guided imagery? I tried it before my BMX because the surgeon recommended it and it was amazingly helpful.

Amazon has some available for immediate download for as little as 99 cents. I just searched for guided imagery pain to find it.

Hope this helps. Do you have tissue expanders in? I've heard they can be pretty painful. I didn't have any reconstruction and my pain was pretty much gone by day 3.

Hang in there. You will get past this. We're all rooting for you

I second the guided imagery! I found it really helpful! I have a high sensitivity to pain meds in general and some other meds so I used guided imagery and had two sessions of hypnotherapy. I am also using acupuncture as pain relief which helped me a lot although it is time consuming to drive there...

What about CBD oil? I just started using it and it is great pain relief. I am highly sensitive to THC so only use the CBD part (anti-inflammatory) so I think this would be an option for you. Ask your doctor.

Hope you get some pain relief soon!

I was suffering from sciatica due to spine injury which was even worse than the pain from my breast surgery. Tylenol and Ibuprofen worked to a point but I needed something more. My doctor recommend Turmeric (powdered in capsule form) and it turned out to be very good for inflammation. You can use as much as you want because it doesn’t dammage kidneys. It’s a spice so you can cook with it too.

Ask your doctor to recommened a physical therapist who works with breast cancer patients. A lot of the pain is due to scar contraction. They know how to massage the scar to break it up. The relief can be almost immediate. It’s strange that they don’t automatically recommend this. I read about it and found out it was offered in the same building. Insurance paid for most of it (seven sessions) It pays to become the “squeeky wheel” and advocate for your needs. I hope for the best for you.

Child76, I'm in a university pain study and we are doing virtual reality games. Try renting one. It's so immersive that I find I forget about my siatic nerve pain.that is the goal of the study. I've never held a joystick and am not a gamer but this study is awesome and after trying it out all week I start the realstudy Monday for 4 weeks. We are to do it for a half hour a day. Not sure yet how painfree I will be after the game but I'm to track all that with my questionaire. This might be an answer to remaining sober while in pain. Kudos for you girl. Awesome successful six years.
