I am looking Amusing! Hi!

Same thing happened to my friend after being 8 years free from IDC, turned out that hers was DCIS. She opted for a mastectomy and reconstruction, no need for chemo or radiation this time. Her surgeon was sure it was IDC as well.

When did you have your surgery?

Nikki

I am doing pretty well thanks. Nothing really to report, I see the Oncologist, they give me more medicine (exemestane again which sucks). I am still working away and busier than ever, despite covid.

Not long since your surgery, I hope you're healing well. I know it's a weird thing, but congratulations on the DCIS, the best possible outcome, even though it all sucks!

Thank you, and I know exactly what you mean!

Do you get side-effects from the Exemestane?

Yes I have been on it before, and it was horrible, but I was very pre-menopausal that time. Hopefully now I am few years on it won't be so brutal. Bone aches and pain in my feet, legs and arms.

Time will tell, I have just started back after quite a long time on tamoxifen (2.5 years).

What are you on, still tamoxifen?

Hopefully you won't get the same side effects this time.

I'm probably about to start Tamoxifen, I wasn't on anything prior to that. My BS says he wants me on it as a preventative seeing I've had two lots of DCIS. I know some people have horrible side effects and some have only mild or none so I hope I am in the latter category.

Hello. Its been a while thats for sure. Sorry to hear you have had another scary time of it Amusing S. That's not what we need at all. Lucky it was picked up. Hopefully the Tamoxifen does the trick. Im just plodding on like an aged 56 year old. My poor old bones are taking a beating with the Letrozole. Im overdue a visit with my very busy specialist and I guess we will be having some big conversations. Some shocking liver blood test results. Dexa bone density scan shows levels have plummeted in 3 years and now an odd hearing test has the GP concerned. So now as you can imagine im not feeling that great, hence the return to the old haunting grounds.
