I salute her. some people are strange to just de-friend her, their loss. she  not actually naked. its only the top part and you see less on at a  beach at times. they mudt have under=lying issues i would say. she is just be informing of what BC is capable of doing. and  its sad. i have had friends that are not as friendly to me now since my Dx, and it hurts abit, but the people  who matter are still there, my family, my friends and of cause my friends on here and my darling man i am married to, and God. i can't see him, but i know he is there. you can't beat  that.

Hi Midnight! Lovely to see you!

I am really pleased to see that this one got through and has been allowed to stay on Facebook.

There was another young woman about a year ago, who put up photos of her non reconstructed UMX, I think it was, and she was forced to remove the pictures from Facebook. There was a lot about it in the media at the time, and her pictures actually ended up being seen by more people, because of the outcry.

I think the De-Friending, speaks volumes about the so called "friends" this woman had.

I keep reading about friends disappearing after Dx. I have a couple who haven't called again, but I couldn't care less. I am just a bit annoyed that I didn't pick them as "Fair Weather Friends" earlier!

I understand totally how confronting these photos are, but sometimes people need a picture like that, to galvanize them into action and have themselves checked out. I know I have friends, who have been for Mammos, that had been put off, after seeing my scar.

For me, these women who are putting themselves out there, The Scar Project is another worth looking at, I see them as strong, amazing women.

All power to them!

hay Ariom, lovely to see you too. yes she is brave and courages.lady. really some people are really strange how they look at things, glad her message is out there,  iyou see that add for  panacreatic. cancer, and it says, i wish i had breast cancer,  i can see  their point, but  makes BC LOOK PRETTY LAME, acutally, somebody said, its given BC more awareness, instead of what is was aiming for, pancreatic cancer, that is a horrible cancer and i ADMIT that, it took my dad , but BC aint no picnic either,

hey have you read abou our dear karen on ausy site, she not doing too good. poor lady, they have one more drug to try as her body is becoming intolerent to chemo,  you can read that for your self anyway, just giving you the heads up. hugs and love annette

She found changes in her breasts, which suggest the beginnings of bc, does it matter though? The scars are just as real and tell the story of what happens when you have bc and all those surgeries.

Hi Midnight! yes I have seen Kazzies posts and have posted over there, thanks for the heads up though.

Hi Trish! I agree, what that girl went through was as real as any surgery could be.  She really chose the hard road too.

HappyHello my lovely peeps,

I would like to offer my thoughts on the subject. I think it's very brave of Beth Whaanga to put herself out there like that ....she did it as a selfless act of compassion for others, in the hope that she might encourage them to be more vigilant about their health. She is a beautiful young woman and that is obvious beyond her battle scars.

The thing is, that I can see how this picture could possible upset some people....it is quite confronting. When you stop and consider the type of forum that is face book then you realise how many might find it offensive even. There are a lot of people on face book that post very seductive pics of themselves....I would say some pics are verging on playboy material. There is a huge face book culture out there that is all about looks and seduction...that seems to be the playground of the young and beautiful...if they got it they want to flaunt it. When I was young I must admit I wore my skirts a bit too short, I was proud of my youthful and fit body.....I can only admit that now. I don't want to judge the peeps that are too young to know better....thing is that a lot of teens and people in their early twenties can be quite vain ...they don't want to think about something that could possible get in the way of them getting attention or having fun....our 16-30's are our party years.. I'm sure there are older people on face book that are obsessed about how they look too and like to spend every waking moment taking selfies and posting on fb .....I envy them....lol...

I don't have that sort of self-confidence at my age and don't want to either haha....I'm lucky if I show some ankle skin ...on a good day. Anyway I know I'm ranting but seriously.....not everyone has been touched by bc and so they are ignorant to it. We really can't judge them because we don't know what their future will hold.....we all grow at our own pace and I don't know about you guys but I know that my bc experience helped me evolve and mature in a very short time and prior to that I was ignorant about bc myself. Perhaps the people that un-friended Beth on face book just can't handle the truth or perhaps they are terrified to think about it...whatever their reasons let's hope they never have to end up here .....but if they do .....we 'll all be here to welcome them with open arms I'm sure... Because I know how amazing and supportive we all are....

  I hope I don't sound like I'm lecturing here.....send me a 'slap' if I am lol

take care....it was an interesting post thanks lightandwind:):):)
