Yearly mammo on Wednesday and here I am coming unglued.

Having horrible flashbacks form 10 years ago,,,mind is taking me to all sort of places.

Makes me sad that so many years later I still have a hard time with this.

Need some words of encouragement.

I understand. It's scary to flashback to what is truly a horrible illness. You've got this though! Have faith

I had a 6 month mammogram yesterday at a different facility than I used to go to. In the past it was read before I left. The new place doesn't read them while you wait. I was told that the results will be sent to my oncologist by the end of the week.. I was diagnosed two years ago and completed chemo and radiation and am now on Tamoxifen. I am so anxious. I was before the mammogram and now I am as I wait to hear from my doctor. I changed where I had the mammograms to the hospital where my doctor works to make it easier on everyone. I had no idea they don't read them the same day.

Well, I am here in Canada and normally if you go for a diagnostic mammo they do not give you the results ...they are sent to the doctor. They do that with everything whether it is cancer or not.

Anyway...as I have been going through this for like 10 years now, I have always managed to get some details from the tech's on my mammo...lots of times they have told me that nothing jumps out...or it is good news that we didn't ask for more pictures....

There is now a new clinic in Vancouver which has 3-D and you can pay $100 and have the mammo looked at while you are there...so that is what I have been doing. A radiologist reviews it with you.

This should be available to all breast cancer patients because the anxiety is too much.

I am a basket case. I puked once during my mammo..in the garbage can....lol.

Koshka, so good to see you again. I remember you from the chat room here years ago. I also freak out before my mammograms, I've just had too much cancer.

So I take direct action. I bring a single serving bottle of wine with me and drink it in the parking lot, just before going in. I'm sure they think I'm a lush, but I really don't care.

Taking off my bra and prosthesis is still the hardest part. Once I've done that, I can usually get into the gown without crying. Hope this helps, and best to you.

oh how i needed to hear that!

The day I got my diagnosis I had a glass too many before I went in to see my surgeon for my pathology results.

I also drank wine before I met my plastic surgeon.

I have thought so many times to have a drink or ten before mammo...that would certainly beat taking the xanax.

No joke ...it is awful.

I hope you are doing ok? I miss the chat room....all of us ladies are in a group on facebook...just like the old days...you should join us...you would remember them.....
