My mother's fna biopsy showed ER-/PR+. The medical team is doing a pathology on the tumor post surgery. Has it happened for anyone that the results were different from the first biopsy?

Yes, mine was Her2negative on my biopsy and after surgery it was found to be Her2 positive. Although it's not common the receptors can also change. My progesterone was very low when biopsied but found to be very strong after they did surgery and path report.

My wife's progesterone was very high (97%) on the initial biopsy, but only 5% on the surgical path report.

My receptors were ER+/PR+ at biopsy, but lumpectomy revealed it to be ER+/PR-, a more aggressive cancer. Changed my whole treatment plan.

Mine changed after my lumpectomy surgery. Path report showed a micromet in the SN. BS was surprised, I was stunned. Despite his assurance they had to dissect and re-dissect to find it it was still there. Had the Oncotype test and got a low score so dodged chemo thank goodness.

Biopsy said I was Triple Neg and was treated as such. Final path showed me ER+ by 15%. I think differing results are pretty common. Makes sense that getting the complete picture happens when they have the whole tumor to work with. All the best to your mother for a successful and easy time with treatment!
