Wondering how long everyone had to wait for their results. My test was ordered this past Monday and I see my surgeon on Wednesday next week. Hoping he has the results for me. Is this possible? I'm on the East Coast and I think Onco lab is west? So there's transit time too.

Mine was about 3 weeks. I'd had the lumpectomy, which found a micromet in the sentinel node, and they were going to place a port at the re-excision surgery for tidying up margins. The oncotype came back the day before, saying I wouldn't need chemo. It felt like a reprieve from the governor.

My tumor (and I) had to wait for the surgical pathology to come back to ensure the nodes were clear and the margins were clear. Then it went. So that added about 5-6 days. The BS told me it would take two weeks, three on the outside, after arriving in California. It all depended on how long "the line" was. Well, it took a little over two weeks. Plus the five days. so yeah, long time. I tried to be buoyed by the favorable surgical pathology report while I waited. The nurse navigator called me the moment it came in.

So after waiting over two weeks, I called the surgeon’s office and talked to the PA. No test results. Then she called this morning to tell me that the test had been ordered, but nobody did the insurance approval! Said the medical assistant would get right on I t and update me when done. No phone call today and tomorrow is the holiday... ugh! What a waste of two weeks..anxiously waiting and wondering. In the meantime, I have my first appointment this coming Monday with MO and I won’t know my results. Feeling angry and down.

Mine took 3 weeks, but part of that was because of the precertification process with the insurance company. Got my results yesterday, the score was 26 so I'll start chemo after my surgery.

I hope you get a low score

After having to move my MO appointment to this coming Monday, I finally have my answer. PA called today. My Oncotype score is 36. Chance of recurrence without chemo is 24%. She said the rest can be gone over with the MO.

Can’t say I’m terribly surprised, but it’s still upsetting. Besides MOappointment, I have RO appointment on Wednesday. Hope my head can handle all that’s thrown at me.

Grateful for this weekend full of plans to keep me busy.

Ah, Gigibozo, sorry to hear about the score. Although as you said, it's not terribly surprising. Honestly, from what I've seen among the women here, with a 2 cm grade 3 tumor that is PR-, 36 is actually on the low side. So that's good, right?

Winking

Looking at the TAILORx charts, it appears that after chemo and with hormone therapy, your 24% risk will drop down to 10% or less. So what the score tells you is that these treatments really are worthwhile for you.

Good luck with chemo!

I second what Beesie stated. I got my Oncotype score last week from the MO over the phone, but we went over it in detail at my appt yesterday. My score was 26, with a 9 year risk of distant recurrence with Tamoxifen or AI at 16%. She said that adding chemo will drop that below 10%. It's all about knowing that we will actually benefit and be able to mitigate our risk of recurrence with Chemo.

Still doesn't make facing chemo that much easier....
