Test report says normal is <500. Reference range 270-600. Mine was 710. I am scared to death-would Dr not address this immediately if blood clot was possible/probable? I did read that (recent) surgery could escalate result. My lumpectomy was 5/11.

toria, keep in mind there are other causes of elevated d dimer. Sorry if I missed it but why was it drawn in the first place? Its primarily drawn to rule out DVT/ pulmonary embolus. Elevated triglycerides, heart disease, lupus, inflammation etc and so many other conditions can play a factor. Treating the underlying cause usually resolves the issue. Many oncologists are also hematologists and can order additional labs to help get you some answers.

I'm sorry I missed how old you are. If you are on birth control pills I suggest having that discussion as to whether that increases even more the risk of clot formation. Hang in there

Thank you @DebAL for the information! I'm old(56) lol so no birth control since my 20s.... I appreciate knowing that there are other factors at play. It's hard to interpret the info/lab results when you simply do not know.

I hope your weekend is blessed xx
