Topic: Crusty discharge from nipple after fibro removal and body issues

Forum: Benign Breast Conditions —

A safe place to discuss benign (non-cancerous) breast conditions. Benign breast conditions are unusual growths or other changes in the breast tissue that are not cancer, though some may be associated with an increase in breast cancer risk. Benign breast conditions are quite common.

Hey, a little background about me. I noticed a lump in my left breast when i was 16, but only after i was 18 i had it checked when i realised its still there and it was growing even more bigger, along with growth of 2 more smaller lumps. I had it checked and the dr did an ultrasound (which he found even more smaller growing lumps), then proceeded with a biopsy. he then highly suspect it to be a fibro, and asked if i want it to be removed, which i agreed as it was uncomfortable when i wear my bra.

I then had 3 of them removed when i was 19 and had two scars, which are keloids (which raised my body issues :( ). dr recommended to have it checked yearly after the procedure.

i am 21 now, and now there are new lumps growing right underneath the scars from the previous surgery, i counted around 5 of them on the left breast and two on the right. my left nipple also changed in shape after the surgery, before this it was inverted, but now its not and i always noticed a white crust on the left nipple. planning to check on the doctor (bcs silly me misread the appointment due to the clerks bad writing, i missed it and i moved across the country, so i had to start all over again)

so my question and discussion is, did anyone go through these changes of their breast like i did after surgery? how did you overcome the issues with the scars?

Hi numnam, and welcome to Breastcancer.org.

We're so very sorry for the troubles you've been having. It must be very frustrating and disheartening. We don't have much to offer in terms of overcoming body issues with the scars, but we're hoping others will weigh in soon who have been there. We're glad you're being diligent about your breast changes and keeping a close eye. Make sure you're always bringing these discoveries to your doctor, so they can monitor the changes with you on a regular basis.

For some more information, you may be interested in the main Breastcancer.org site's pages on Benign Breast Conditions.

We hope this helps and that you get some more support here soon.

Hi numnam! I have not gone through this though know someone with a relative who developed painful keloid scars after BMX and reconstruction... will be a lifelong issue. I don't know if these new lumps are keloids or not though some people are just prone to developing them and they can be quite a pain literally and figuratively from what I understand. Unfortunate you have to start over... So I'm not sure if you have something scheduled where you are living now - or not? If not, do you know where you will schedule? Hopefully someone who can relate to what you're dealing with will also respond too....
