I'm very curious about all the Illinois ladies who are making this breast cancer journey or who have finished it. Where are you located? What's your diagnosis? Where are you in your treatment plan? How's it going for you?

I thought we might be surprised to find somebody right in our own back yard that could use some encouragement or company.

I'll start us out. I live in Bloomington. I was diagnosed in Nov. 2006 with IDC cancer, 1.4 cm. er-, pr+, her2-. Stage 1 but that horrid Grade 3. Had an excisional biopsy that came back without clear margins. Went to Peoria to an excellent breast surgeon. Had a lumpectomy with sentinel node biopsy. Nodes and margins were both clear. Now I'm headed for my first CMF chemo on Jan. 26th. I'm very nervous about the chemo, which I dread more than any other part of the journey, I think.

Hop on here and tell us about yourself. There may be some of us that are even close enough we could meet for an outing some time.

Our relationships are our sacred responsibilities, for they are the framework within which life is lived. They show us where we have more learning and loving to do. This is for all the Chicago/N. IL women on this thread: any interest in a get-together? Ever since the N.Shore/Kellogg BC Support Group disbanded (dwindling attendance after our facilitator died in Apr. 2016), I've been searching for a Chicagoland support group. Amazingly, there are almost none--there's one tonight, way out west at Loyola (at least the website says "third Thursdays") but nobody's answering, and it's definitely a long commute during rush hour. Cancer Wellness Center has none--just a Tamoxifen & AI group on third Wednesdays. And Gilda's Club has one---but it's every other month, all the way down in Oak Lawn at Advocate Christ. (2-hr commute, as my DH who's on staff there will attest. All the more baffling as Gilda's Club is located in the Loop). None of them are CTA-accessible either (ours was just steps from the Purple Line Central St. stop).

I also put out a message to Chicago-area members of MyBCTeam.com, but all I'm getting are "hugs."

Does NOBODY want to meet face-to-face any more? (Note--you downstate gals obviously get a pass).

Several yrs. back there were a lot of get togethers. Usually at a restaurant. Maggiano's though by now I'm likely spelling it wrong. Christmas party every yr. too. It would be nice if a group could get together again. Back many, many pages now I'd imagine -- there should be numerous pics. I have to admit though this was going on right after ( I wasn't able to attend due to distance ) my dx. Around 07' and 08'. I think the get togethers were at times quite lively.

Hope you are able to get a response.
