Well, right by me is Mimi's but they are snotty about not taking reservations. One of my favorite spots is in Fashion Valley, The Cheesecake Factory. Now, you can never get in unless you go about 11:00am on Sunday. No one seems to know they are open.

AND, I have a Chevy's right across from me and a King's Fish Restaurant, ummm, the rest are kinda casual, Baja Fresh, and Fuddruckers.

Just let me know if you guys think any of these will work.

Hugs, Shirlann

Thank you for the warm welcome. Looking for all the support I can get (and share). I hear a lot of medical jargon, but don't really know/understand what it all means. Today I found out I'm HER2/neu negative... what's it mean? Is that good or bad?

I start chemo next week - they are doing neoadjuvant chemotherapy so figure surgery will be some time towards June... Depending on the BRCA test, it could be a double mastectomy or a lumpectomy. Hoping for a negative BRCA test. Anyways, I'm finding that everyone's treatment is different and even the plan the doctors currently have for me may change depending on results of the next few tests.

It's nice to know you are all out there and supportive. I'd love to be included in the next get together.

A little about me (don't know if you share but here goes) - I'm 46, married with three boys ages 10, 13 and almost 17. I've been working, but looks like I'll be taking some time off ;-)

Hello All,

My name is Brenda, so you may call me Brenda #2. I just found out about this site from a friend of mine in the Rock-tober 2005 group. I have lived in the heart of San Diego since 1978. Aren't we lucky to be living in paradise?

BTW, 3boys, being HER2/neu negative is a good thing.

Welcome Brenda #2. Where in the heart of San Diego are you? So glad you found us. Please join us on our next get together.

Shirlann I want so bad to go the Cheesecake Factory. I have heard great things about it and have never been. I am up for a Sunday morning. I will have to miss church but I think God is O.K. with me spending time with you ladies.

Has anyone heard from LisaSDCA since our get together? I tried calling her on Tuesday but just left a message. Did she get in for chemo or find a new onc?

I know, that is probably why you can get in to the Cheesecake Factory Sunday am, most people are in church. But yes, I will ask God to forgive both of us, we need each other.

Brenda, yes, we live in paradise! We are very lucky.

No, I wondered about Lisa, she was so worried, at the worst time of all on this journey. If you hear from her, let me know

Love you all, Shirlann

Melia and Brenda,

My daughter just phoned. She got an A on the paper and her instructor complimented her on the topic. She said that it was very interesting and pertinent. PM me your email addresses (can't remember if you already did) and as soon as she sends it to me, I'll forward a copy to you. Thanks again for all of your help. She may have found her niche. She's thinking about possibly medical social work in a breast clinic setting for a future career. We'll see, she changes her mind all the time. LOL!!

OMIGOSH, friends, I am so sorry I haven't checked in recently.
Yes, I did go ahead with my first chemo - and survived it! In fact, I am almost to the end of my self-administered Neupogen shots! <very proud of self>
I am still planning on switching oncologists to Dr. G. as Melia and I discussed. Brenda, I am SO sorry I missed your call. How rude I must have seemed. I had a helpful daughter check my messages when we got home from the hospital, and she very well may have told me you called to check on me, but I have NO memory of her doing so.

Welcome to our other San Diego area ladies! I'm also PMing with another SD woman and I'll be sure to invite her to come to this thread and join us. We may have quite a few on Sunday the 15th! I'm sure if we say a blessing before brunch that the good Lord will forgive us for gathering in an "alternative venue". And I will be uhm, alternatively coiffed by that time. I may just arrive as a flaming redhead and see who is the first to recognize me.
Cheers!

Hi Ladies,
Just had my first chemo on Wednesday. An IV drip of taxotere followed by oral Xeloda for 14 days. They had me on steroids for 3 days which bolstered me up, but have discontinued the steroids until the next go round with the taxotere in three weeks. I'm okay, just tired. I guess that's to be expected.

I'd like to join you all at the Cheesecake Factory on the 15th if that's okay. So that's at 11am in Fashion Valley? Just want to make sure I go to the right place. Look forward to meeting all the "cancer sisters".

Hi LisaSDCA,
I go to Sharp in Kearny Mesa. They are so nice there. They have seminars and support groups and I feel well taken care of. Their breast cancer support group meeting Tues from 12-1:30. I've gone twice. There are women there in all stages of treatment. It helps to hear the stories from other women.

How about you - where are you going for care?

Hope to meet you and the rest of the SD group next month.

Be well,

Hi Lisa -
It's so good to hear you are feeling well taken care of. I'm having my treatment at Kaiser, Zion hospital. It's (unfortunately) a busy place! As of last Friday, Melia and I have the same oncologist, but go to different sites for treatment.
If I don't go out of town, maybe I will come visit your support group on Tues. The one at Zion was not at all useful (in the support sense) and no one there had/has a cancer or treatment plan even remotely resembling mine. Sharp is nearby and that way we could even do a "mini-meet" before our April lunch. Our last luncheon was the best "support group" I could imagine!
<hugs all around>

Wheee, I am so glad to hear all is going well. Kaiser is busy, yes, but every time I take my Therapy Dog to the cancer wards, the gals are lovely and everything is very, very clean and the whole floor seems under careful control.

See you on the 15th!

Thank you for worrying over me, Shirlann. I'm happy with my new oncologist. He's being proactive and together we've been addressing the issues I had following my first infusion so that I may be fortunate to minimize them next time around. Which is Wednesday.
I've invited Myrajuc to join us and directed her to this thread. I told her she was welcome to bring a couple of her Young Survivors buddies, too - the more, the merrier.
Even if there are only a handful of us I can't wait.
See y'all on Sunday the 15th.
