When I saw the post cats, cats, cats, I simply had to create this one. I've had two dogs. My first was a miniature pinscher named Bucky. He'd been thrown out of a car (!) and ended up on a corner where I got off the bus. He was one year old, and eventually became my psychiatric service dog. The difference between that and a therapy dog was that Bucky had actual tasks to carry out. Such as pawing at my leg to bring me out of a dissociative state.

The second picture is an expression we used to call The Face. When he saw something he wanted. Food, toy, you name it.

Bucky died abruptly of congestive heart failure at nine. That was over five years ago, and I'm still heartbroken.

I got a puppy, another miniature pinscher, named Fletcher. He is an adorable bundle of energy, and neurotic as the day is long! EVERYTHING scares him! He's a rescue who spent his first four months in a cage by himself at a puppy mill. Five years later, Fletcher is a sweet, loving dog. But a real mess. He didn't even know how to be a dog. He still doesn't greet like a normal dog; he's happy to see me, but darts out of reach if I try to pet him. Other than that, he loves to cuddle. And he has a loud, shrill bark, as these dogs do.

Just a heads up moms. Be sure your fur kid is current on Bordatella vax. I slacked off with it, now Spookie has it. The cough sounds like croup. It’s awful. I’m sure she got it at dog park.

Very glad nugget is adjusting. So well.

I’m still wrecked over the loss of my Tag. I feel like I just can’t get a grip. I still cry everyday at some point and I still think sometimes I see a glimpse of his chestnut reddish brown hair. Sigh. When it hits me, that it is not what it is. I hurt all over again. It is honestly like mourning a person. So hurt and missing his little freckled nose. I just want him back. What a terrible feeling. Dogs are so special. I was lucky so lucky to have loved such an awesome dog. The best I’ve known.

Micmel I am so sorry, it is such a difficult loss. We lost our sweet Sal dog just a couple of weeks ago and his absence is palpable in the household.

I think maybe your Tag is watching over you, protecting you from afar just like he always did. I know he was a wonderful doggie because you loved him so very much and took such good care of him. Hugs

My beagle is about 10 yrs old. She keeps me company almost every night in my therapy room (flexitouch pump). After each pump usage I get into semi sleepwaking stage from relaxing. As a result I locked her in the room 5 times overnight. She still comes to the room. The other night after I was done, she marched to downstairs to guard the house for the night. This is the same dog who stares down the stairs good 5 mins anytime she has to go down because stairs are hard for her legs.
