Hi to all of you!

It is the first time I write here even though I usually read this site a lot, because it has been helping me so much since my diagnosis.I am from Portugal,so sorry for my English😉.

I am 42 years old,had breast cancer 2 years and a half ago, relatively small lump, highly Er and Pr,Grade 1,ki 67 of 5%,negative nodes and no linfatic or vessels invasio were found. It was a Luminal A.I am married but have no children on my own(my husband has a 9 years old son)and I would like very much to have a baby, but I am too afraid to stop tamoxifen for a while and try to get pregnant.I fear recurrence so much!!My oncologist doesn't seem very concerned about me interrupting the pill and then get back to it after the baby is born, but I think all the studies available until now are not that reliable and all the comunity is waiting for the results of POSITIIVE study, but I will be on menopause at that time!

I never worried about children very much before, but my husband was so kind and supportive to me that I fell even more in love with him and started whishing having our baby together, even because that is something he would like very much too.

Anyone here like me,smashed between the fear of recurrence and the biologic clock?

Hi Kate40, what have you decided to do? I was diagnosed at age 32 and decided to put off Tamoxifen and get pregnant first. My oncologist thought the risk was minimal. I was very lucky to conceive right away. I breast fed my daughter with my one remaining healthy breast for 4 months and have now been on Tamoxifen for a little more than 1 year. I guess it's too early to say what long term affect my choice will have on my health, but that's my story for what it's worth. Good luck to you!

Hi 32B!

I haven’t stopped tamoxifen yet,it has been a very hard decision for me.I have a friend in the same situation and she already stopped, but her cancer was very small, like yours.Mine was not big,but still bigger than hers.

I think you took the right decision, and you started tamoxifen a short time after. If it would be dangerous your doctor would try to make you change your mind.

I think I need some encouragment and support from my doctor,I was never able to understand how she felt about me taking a tamoxifen holiday.Comunication was never that good.On the other side, she always told me from the begging how good my prognosis was.I am very confused, that’s why I scheduled another appointment with a different doctor on the 2 of march. We will see what I decide,I haven’t been able to overcome fear yet,and that makes me so sad.

Congratulations on your determination!Wish you all the best to you and your baby
