Hello, Thank you for reading!! What kind of post treatment care have your loved ones received from the big hospital they were treated at? We are 2 1/2 out from the last chemo treatment. The big hospital we go to has been extremely difficult to deal with in regards to getting appointments for follow up MRIs and mammograms scheduled and getting lymphedema prescriptions filled (for compression garments). The lack of response and follow through on the hospital's end has made life for my partner incredibly stressful and frustrating. I'm trying to find out if they just want to be done with people that don't need treatments or if they are just that unorganized and swamped with work that they can't seem to get anything right. We're wondering if we should seek follow up care at a more local smaller hospital or should we stick it out and deal with the frustration that comes with working with a big hospital. Please share your post treatment patient care at big hospital experiences. Thank you!!

Dear Accessme,

Welome to the community although we are sorry that you and your partner are having such concerns. You may want to post where you live or seek advice from others in your general location. You can search for others who live in or near your closest city by using the search button in the blue tool bar to your left. If you search for the name of a city it will offer you posts that contain that word. We don't know if that is helpful. We hope that you will stay connected her and keep us posted. The Mods

Dear Accessme, maybe it varies from hospital to hospital or maybe it varies from practice to practice. I was/am treated at a very big hospital but I don't have any issues with follow up, getting appointments scheduled, etc. I use their online system a lot and prefer emailing the docs and nurses instead of calling and leaving messages. They always get back to me a little sooner or later. Maybe it also depends on the type of post treatment care one needs. Honestly, in many cases after active treatment is over post treatment care is limited to appointments with MO and maybe some imaging (that would depend on what treatment one had.)

thank you for your response Muska. My wife received treatment at DFCI in your fair city. She had surgery in NH, but got chemo in Boston. We have a follow up in a couple weeks with the onc. I'd like to ask her if we should be having such difficulties but am also not sure if I should be fighting my wife's battles for her. Anyways, I guess I should just talk with her about this stuff. Thank you for reading and responding
