Hi all, I wanted to start a forum for all us that are using the cold caps to try to save our hair.  I am on FEC100 X3 followed by Taxotere X3.  My dosage unfortunately is not a guaranteed success.  I am 40 days out from my first treatment and will have my third June 17.  So far I have thinned but have not required a wig.  I have no bald spots; however, around my right ear is the thinnest..I think because the cap wasn't tight there.  All in all, I am pleased to still have a good covering.  If you are using or have used the Cold Caps, I would love to hear your experience.  Take care, Candy

ok it's official, I made the decision to stop capping and just let the rest of treatment run its course.

If there's anyone in the Orlando area or if anyone hears of anyone that wants to start capping I'll give up all my supplies and stuff like the temperature gun and stuff.

After my decision to stop I immediately jumped in the shower with hot water and scrubbed my scalp for a good 10 mins. That might have been the best feeling since chemo started. Ha!

Thank you again ladies for all of the support! I'll keep popping in every once in awhile to say hi and see how everyone is doing!

StefLove, so sorry the caps did not work for you, but I think you have a GREAT attitude about it all. How generous of you to offer your supplies up!

That dang adriamycin! Oh well, it is what it is - time to move forward. I think I would have made the same decision. <3

StefLove, so sorry the caps didn't work. With six treatments to go, it didn't make any sense to keep going. You sound at peace with your difficult decision and I wish you all the best. I think it's important that new ACT cappers are aware in advance of the 50/50 success rate.

StefLove, I'm sorry the caps didn't work for you but I love your attitude!! You are right in that you had extra time with your hair than if you had not capped and that is wonderful in itself. I bet it feels wonderful to take a warm shower and scrub you head!! Good luck with your remaining Taxols!

Just finished my last chemo treatment day before yesterday!

I'm on day 65 from first TC treatment. Hair has thinned overall but no real bald spots so far. My hair is naturally thin and fine, and I had already mistreated it pre-diagnosis through overprocessing, ponytails, blow drying, and motorcycle riding, so I am really happy with the results so far. One big shed between first and second treatments, now I'm hoping for no weird curve balls due to post-chemo shedding :-o

Farewell to the Penguin cold caps! How I loved and loathed thee at the same time, hehe!

Getting through the 4th and final chemo was such a relief. The staff told me that I am the first person to try cold capping at my particular treatment facility so I was pretty much a curiosity for a while, I guess. But recently, I learned that a second capper had just joined the ranks! I was very pleased to hear this, and hoping somehow we'd meet up...well, guess what? About halfway through my final chemo session, I hear the familiar rumble of a cooler wheeling in, look up, and there she is! Woohoo! She is there for her treatment, too! The chair next to mine was empty, so we got to spend a nice half hour or so capping and chatting a bit! Talk about serendipity! I'm learning to expect nothing and anything with this "new normal"!

Has anyone used arcticcoldcaps.com with any success? They seem to be fairly new to the market and don't have any testimonials on their website.
