This seems like a fantastic community of supportive women, and I'm so happy to "meet" you all! Hopefully I am also posting in the right place, since I am waiting for a mammogram and ultrasound next Friday.
I have made several benign lumps in my breast before, but none like this one. Out of no where one day, I woke up and it was swollen and very painful to the touch. For the first couple of days, it was intolerable and painful to the touch. There is also redness in the area where the lump is (I can feel it pushing out against my skin underneath my breast). The lump is underneath my nipple that is about 3 cm by my breast specialists assessment.
It improved the day that I saw her, and has since become more painful again (burning, occasional stabbing pains). She thinks that it is possibly an abscess from a mastitis that may have developed (not breastfeeding/no kids if that is relevant), so she wanted an ultrasound to see if there is anything we can drain. I have autoimmune issues and have been on prednisone recently and she stated all of this can also contribute.
Just wondering if anyone has had this experience. It certainly is painful, and I'm guessing cancer doesn't just pop up overnight so I'm not incredibly concerned about that, but it's hard to put these things out of your mind completely. Some days are better than others mentally. :)
I appreciate any insight or any suggestions for the pain until my imaging is done on the 18th.
Thank you, ladies. Have a wonderful weekend, and thanks for reading this. :)
