I've been "on the boards" here at BC.org since 2006, and in fact I mention this wonderful site in the book. Two weeks after I completed the manuscript for "Breast Left Unsaid" I was diagnosed with a recurrance and am now Stage IV. "Breast Left Unsaid" has been receiving great reviews from not only our BC community but health care professionals and surprisingly, many men are reading it and sending feedback that "the didn't understand all this" before. I decided that since my disease is progressing I would like to leave behind a touchstone of hope and a reminder that we MUST find a cure - and drugs that won't make us sicker. My book ends on a hopeful and positive note~ I hope you enjoy it and know that I support organizations dedicated to research for a cure. Full stop.

I probably would not have had the stamina for the book if I was Stage 4, so I'm glad I wrote it when I did. I'm current on Taxol and monthly Xgeva but also just got dx with a spot on my brain. I am starting to feel the metal SEs more than the physical ones. How are YOU??

Kind of surprised you're doing taxol....only because taxol was my first chemo. I have had metastatic disease with mets to liver and bone since 11/09 and have been on chemo ever since. 17 mo of taxol, 12 mo of xeloda, 2 mo of navelbine, 4 mo Gemzar, 3 carboplatin/taxotere, 5 perjeta /taxotere and just started Tdm-1 today.

I've had brain mets for about a year and a half but they were few and small so I had gamma knife twice, once this past January and once the January before. I hope that's what they are recommending for you since it really is not that hard a procedure.

I had a good quality of life for the first three years with minimal side effects, mental or physical but have suffered much with harsh side effects the past several months so mentally I'm at the point of being tired of it all!
